بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى
﴿۱﴾
Qarib: Exalt the Name of your Lord, the Highest,
Sarwar: (Muhammad), glorify the Name of your lord, the Most High, Shakir: Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High, Pickthall: Praise the name of thy Lord the Most High, Yusufali: Glorify the name of thy Guardian-Lord Most High,
الَّذِي خَلَقَ فَسَوَّى
﴿۲﴾
Qarib: who has created and shaped,
Sarwar: Who has created (all things) proportionately, Shakir: Who creates, then makes complete, Pickthall: Who createth, then disposeth; Yusufali: Who hath created, and further, given order and proportion;
وَالَّذِي قَدَّرَ فَهَدَى
﴿۳﴾
Qarib: who has ordained and guided,
Sarwar: decreed their destinies, and provided them with guidance. Shakir: And Who makes (things) according to a measure, then guides (them to their goal), Pickthall: Who measureth, then guideth; Yusufali: Who hath ordained laws. And granted guidance;
وَالَّذِي أَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعَى
﴿۴﴾
Qarib: who brings forth the pastures,
Sarwar: It is He who has caused the grass to grow, Shakir: And Who brings forth herbage, Pickthall: Who bringeth forth the pasturage, Yusufali: And Who bringeth out the (green and luscious) pasture,
فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَاءً أَحْوَى
﴿۵﴾
Qarib: then made it dry dark, flaky stubble,
Sarwar: then caused it to wither away. Shakir: Then makes it dried up, dust-colored Pickthall: Then turneth it to russet stubble. Yusufali: And then doth make it (but) swarthy stubble.
سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسَى
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: We shall make you recite so that you will not forget,
Sarwar: We shall teach you (the Quran) and you will not forget it Shakir: We will make you recite so you shall not forget, Pickthall: We shall make thee read (O Muhammad) so that thou shalt not forget Yusufali: By degrees shall We teach thee to declare (the Message), so thou shalt not forget,
إِلَّا مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفَى
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: except what Allah wills, surely, He knows all that is (spoken) aloud and what is hidden.
Sarwar: unless God wills it to be otherwise. He knows all that is made public and all that remains hidden. Shakir: Except what Allah pleases, surely He knows the manifest, and what is hidden Pickthall: Save that which Allah willeth. Lo! He knoweth the disclosed and that which still is hidden; Yusufali: Except as Allah wills: For He knoweth what is manifest and what is hidden.
وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرَى
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: We shall ease you to the easy.
Sarwar: We shall make all your tasks easy. Shakir: And We will make your way smooth to a state of ease Pickthall: And We shall ease thy way unto the state of ease. Yusufali: And We will make it easy for thee (to follow) the simple (Path).
فَذَكِّرْ إِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّكْرَى
﴿۹﴾
Qarib: Therefore remind, if the Reminder benefits,
Sarwar: Therefore, keep on preaching as long as it is of benefit. Shakir: Therefore do remind, surely reminding does profit Pickthall: Therefor remind (men), for of use is the reminder. Yusufali: Therefore give admonition in case the admonition profits (the hearer).
سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشَى
﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: and he who fears shall remember,
Sarwar: Those who have fear of God will benefit Shakir: He who fears will mind, Pickthall: He will heed who feareth, Yusufali: The admonition will be received by those who fear (Allah):
وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْأَشْقَى
﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: but the most wretched shall avoid it,
Sarwar: but the reprobates will turn away Shakir: And the most unfortunate one will avoid it, Pickthall: But the most hapless will flout it, Yusufali: But it will be avoided by those most unfortunate ones,
الَّذِي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرَى
﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: who will roast in the Great Fire,
Sarwar: and suffer the heat of the great fire Shakir: Who shall enter the great fire; Pickthall: He who will be flung to the great Fire Yusufali: Who will enter the Great Fire,
ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْيَى
﴿۱۳﴾
Qarib: in which he will neither die nor live therein.
Sarwar: wherein they will neither live nor die. Shakir: Then therein he shall neither live nor die Pickthall: Wherein he will neither die nor live. Yusufali: In which they will then neither die nor live.
قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكَّى
﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: Prosperous is he who purifies himself,
Sarwar: Lasting happiness will be for those who purify themselves, Shakir: He indeed shall be successful who purifies himself, Pickthall: He is successful who groweth, Yusufali: But those will prosper who purify themselves,
وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهِ فَصَلَّى
﴿۱۵﴾
Qarib: and remembers the Name of his Lord, so he prays.
Sarwar: remember the name of the Lord, and pray to Him. Shakir: And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays Pickthall: And remembereth the name of his Lord, so prayeth, Yusufali: And glorify the name of their Guardian-Lord, and (lift their hearts) in prayer.
بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
﴿۱۶﴾
Qarib: But you prefer the present life,
Sarwar: However, (the disbelievers) prefer the worldly life Shakir: Nay! you prefer the life of this world, Pickthall: But ye prefer the life of the world Yusufali: Day (behold), ye prefer the life of this world;
وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَى
﴿۱۷﴾
Qarib: but the Everlasting Life is better, and more enduring.
Sarwar: even though the life hereafter will be better and will last forever. Shakir: While the hereafter is better and more lasting Pickthall: Although the Hereafter is better and more lasting. Yusufali: But the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
إِنَّ هَذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَى
﴿۱۸﴾
Qarib: Surely, this is in the ancient Scrolls,
Sarwar: This is what is written in the ancient heavenly Books, Shakir: Most surely this is in the earlier scriptures, Pickthall: Lo! This is in the former scrolls. Yusufali: And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation),-
صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَى
﴿۱۹﴾
Qarib: the Scrolls of Abraham and Moses.
Sarwar: the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses. Shakir: The scriptures of Ibrahim and Musa Pickthall: The Books of Abraham and Moses. Yusufali: The Books of Abraham and Moses. |
