إِنَّهُ كَانَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ الْعَظِيمِ
﴿۳۳﴾
Qarib: He did not believe in Allah, the Great,
Sarwar: they did not believe in the great God, Shakir: Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, Pickthall: Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, Yusufali: "This was he that would not believe in Allah Most High.
وَلَا يَحُضُّ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
﴿۳۴﴾
Qarib: nor did he urge the feeding of the needy.
Sarwar: nor were they concerned with feeding the destitute. Shakir: Nor did he urge the feeding of the poor Pickthall: And urged not on the feeding of the wretched. Yusufali: "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent!
فَلَيْسَ لَهُ الْيَوْمَ هَاهُنَا حَمِيمٌ
﴿۳۵﴾
Qarib: Today he shall have no loyal friend here,
Sarwar: On this day, they will have no friends Shakir: Therefore he has not here today a true friend, Pickthall: Therefor hath he no lover here this day, Yusufali: "So no friend hath he here this Day.
وَلَا طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ غِسْلِينٍ
﴿۳۶﴾
Qarib: nor any food except foul pus
Sarwar: and no food except pus Shakir: Nor any food except refuse, Pickthall: Nor any food save filth Yusufali: "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds,
لَا يَأْكُلُهُ إِلَّا الْخَاطِئُونَ
﴿۳۷﴾
Qarib: that none but sinners eat. '
Sarwar: which only the sinners eat". Shakir: Which none but the wrongdoers eat Pickthall: Which none but sinners eat. Yusufali: "Which none do eat but those in sin."
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَا تُبْصِرُونَ
﴿۳۸﴾
Qarib: I swear by all that you can see,
Sarwar: I do not need to swear by what you see Shakir: But nay! I swear by that which you see, Pickthall: But nay! I swear by all that ye see Yusufali: So I do call to witness what ye see,
وَمَا لَا تُبْصِرُونَ
﴿۳۹﴾
Qarib: and all that you do not see,
Sarwar: and what you do not see Shakir: And that which you do not see Pickthall: And all that ye see not Yusufali: And what ye see not,
إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ
﴿۴۰﴾
Qarib: that this is the speech of a noble Messenger.
Sarwar: because the Quran is certainly the word of a reverent messenger. Shakir: Most surely, it is the Word brought by an honored Messenger, Pickthall: That it is indeed the speech of an illustrious messenger. Yusufali: That this is verily the word of an honoured messenger;
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ قَلِيلًا مَا تُؤْمِنُونَ
﴿۴۱﴾
Qarib: It is not the speech of a poet little do you believe
Sarwar: It is not the word of a poet but only a few of you have faith, Shakir: And it is not the word of a poet; little is it that you believe; Pickthall: It is not poet's speech - little is it that ye believe! Yusufali: It is not the word of a poet: little it is ye believe!
وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ قَلِيلًا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ
﴿۴۲﴾
Qarib: nor is it the speech of a soothsayer little do you remember.
Sarwar: nor is it the work of a soothsayer but only a few of you take heed. Shakir: Nor the word of a soothsayer; little is it that you mind Pickthall: Nor diviner's speech - little is it that ye remember! Yusufali: Nor is it the word of a soothsayer: little admonition it is ye receive. |
