Pickthall: That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an
Yusufali: That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,
Qarib: in a Book protected (from tampering)
Sarwar: preserved in a hidden Book which
Shakir: In a book that is protected
Pickthall: In a Book kept hidden
Yusufali: In Book well-guarded,
Qarib: which none shall touch except the purified;
Sarwar: no one can touch it except the purified ones.
Shakir: None shall touch it save the purified ones
Pickthall: Which none toucheth save the purified,
Yusufali: Which none shall touch but those who are clean:
Qarib: a sending down from the Lord of all the Worlds.
Sarwar: (This Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe.
Shakir: A revelation by the Lord of the worlds
Pickthall: A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
Yusufali: A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
Qarib: What, do you hold this discourse in disdain,
Sarwar: Would you say that this statement is a lie?
Shakir: Do you then hold this announcement in contempt?
Pickthall: Is it this Statement that ye scorn,
Yusufali: Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?
Qarib: do you make it your provision to belie it?
Sarwar: Would you reject the sustenance that you receive rather than give thanks?
Shakir: And to give (it) the lie you make your means of subsistence
Pickthall: And make denial thereof your livelihood?
Yusufali: And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false?
Qarib: Why, then, when the soul leaps up to the throat of the dying
Sarwar: Why can you not help a soul dying
Shakir: Why is it not then that when it (soul) comes up to the throat,
Pickthall: Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying)
Yusufali: Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-
Qarib: and you are watching at that time
Sarwar: right before your very eyes?
Shakir: And you at that time look on--
Pickthall: And ye are at that moment looking
Yusufali: And ye the while (sit) looking on,-
Qarib: We are nearer to him than you, but you do not see
Sarwar: We are closer to him than you, but you cannot see.
Shakir: And We are nearer to it than you, but you do not see--
Pickthall: - And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not -
Yusufali: But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-
Qarib: why then, if you are not revived,
Sarwar: If you are true to your claim that there is no Day of Judgment,
Shakir: Then why is it not-- if you are not held under authority--
Pickthall: Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us),
Yusufali: Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-
