Sura 37: AS-SAAFFAT (THOSE WHO SET THE RANKS) - Juz' 23

Qarib: and approach each other with questions,
Sarwar: They will turn to each other saying,
Shakir: And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other
Pickthall: And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning.
Yusufali: And they will turn to one another, and question one another.
Qarib: saying: 'You used to come to us from the right hand. '
Sarwar: "It was you who tried to mislead us from righteousness".
Shakir: They shall say: Surely you used to come to us from the right side
Pickthall: They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth).
Yusufali: They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!"
Qarib: But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers.
Sarwar: Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith.
Shakir: They shall say: Nay, you (yourselves) were not believers;
Pickthall: They answer: Nay, but ye (yourselves) were not believers.
Yusufali: They will reply: "Nay, ye yourselves had no Faith!
Qarib: We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation.
Sarwar: We had no authority over you, in fact, you were a rebellious people.
Shakir: And we had no authority over you, but you were an inordinate people;
Pickthall: We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk.
Yusufali: "Nor had we any authority over you. Nay, it was ye who were a people in obstinate rebellion!
Qarib: The statement of Our Lord is realized against us, and we are tasting it,
Sarwar: Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment.
Shakir: So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste;
Pickthall: Now the Word of our Lord hath been fulfilled concerning us. Lo! we are about to taste (the doom).
Yusufali: "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins).
Qarib: we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts. '
Sarwar: We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray."
Shakir: So we led you astray, for we ourselves were erring
Pickthall: Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray.
Yusufali: "We led you astray: for truly we were ourselves astray."
Qarib: Therefore, on that Day they will all share Our punishment.
Sarwar: On that day they will all share the torment.
Shakir: So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another
Pickthall: Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom.
Yusufali: Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty.
Qarib: As such We shall deal with the evildoers.
Sarwar: This is how We deal with the criminals.
Shakir: Surely thus do We deal with the guilty
Pickthall: Lo! thus deal We with the guilty.
Yusufali: Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners.
Qarib: For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah, ' they were always proud
Sarwar: They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride
Shakir: Surely they used to behave proudly when it was said to them: There is no god but Allah;
Pickthall: For when it was said unto them, There is no Allah save Allah, they were scornful
Yusufali: For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride,
Qarib: and said: 'Are we to renounce our gods for the sake of a mad poet? '
Sarwar: and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet".
Shakir: And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet?
Pickthall: And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet?
Yusufali: And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?"
