Qarib: Those who hide the clear verses and the guidance We have sent down after We have clarified them in the Book for the people shall be cursed by Allah and cursed by the cursers,
Sarwar: Those who hide the authoritative proofs and the guidance that We have revealed, after it has been made clear for the People of the Book, will be condemned by God and those who have the right to condemn. Shakir: Surely those who conceal the clear proofs and the guidance that We revealed after We made it clear in the Book for men, these it is whom Allah shall curse, and those who curse shall curse them (too) Pickthall: Lo! Those who hide the proofs and the guidance which We revealed, after We had made it clear to mankind in the Scripture: such are accursed of Allah and accursed of those who have the power to curse. Yusufali: Those who conceal the clear (Signs) We have sent down, and the Guidance, after We have made it clear for the people in the Book,-on them shall be Allah's curse, and the curse of those entitled to curse,-
Qarib: except those who repent, and mend (their deeds) and clarify. Those I shall accept them. I am the Receiver of repentance, the Most Merciful.
Sarwar: However, I shall accept the repentance of those of them who repent for their sins, reform their manners, and preach the truth; I am All-forgiving and All-merciful. Shakir: Except those who repent and amend and make manifest (the truth), these it is to whom I turn (mercifully); and I am the Oft-returning (to mercy), the Merciful Pickthall: Except those who repent and amend and make manifest (the truth). These it is toward whom I relent. I am the Relenting, the Merciful. Yusufali: Except those who repent and make amends and openly declare (the Truth): To them I turn; for I am Oft-returning, Most Merciful.
Qarib: But those who disbelieve, and die disbelieving shall incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all people.
Sarwar: Those who deny My existence and die with such attitude will be subject to the condemnation of God, the angels, and all people. Shakir: Surely those who disbelieve and die while they are disbelievers, these it is on whom is the curse of Allah and the angels and men all; Pickthall: Lo! Those who disbelieve, and die while they are disbelievers; on them is the curse of Allah and of angels and of men combined. Yusufali: Those who reject Faith, and die rejecting,- on them is Allah's curse, and the curse of angels, and of all mankind;
Qarib: They are there (in the Fire) for eternity neither shall the punishment be lightened for them; nor shall they be given respite.
Sarwar: They will live condemned forever, will have no relief from the torment, and no attention will be paid to them. Shakir: Abiding in it; their chastisement shall not be lightened nor shall they be given respite Pickthall: They ever dwell therein. The doom will not be lightened for them, neither will they be reprieved. Yusufali: They will abide therein: Their penalty will not be lightened, nor will respite be their (lot).
Qarib: Your God is One God. There is no god except He. He is the Merciful, the Most Merciful.
Sarwar: Our Lord is the only Lord. There is no God but He, the Beneficent and Merciful. Shakir: And your Allah is one Allah! there is no god but He; He is the Beneficent, the Merciful Pickthall: Your Allah is One Allah; there is no Allah save Him, the Beneficent, the Merciful. Yusufali: And your Allah is One Allah: There is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Qarib: In the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of night and day; in the ships that sail upon the sea with what is beneficial to the people; in the water which Allah sends down from the sky and with which He revives the earth after its death, and He spread in it from each moving (creation); in the movement of the winds, and in the clouds that are compelled between heaven and earth surely, these are signs for people who understand.
Sarwar: The creation of the heavens and the earth, the alternation of nights and days, the ships that sail in the sea for the benefit of the people, the water that God sends from the sky to revive the dead earth where He has scattered all kinds of animals, the winds of all directions, and the clouds rendered for service between the sky and the earth are all evidence (of His existence) for those who use their reason. Shakir: Most surely in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day, and the ships that run in the sea with that which profits men, and the water that Allah sends down from the cloud, then gives life with it to the earth after its death and spreads in it all (kinds of) animals, and the changing of the winds and the clouds made subservient between the heaven and the earth, there are signs for a people who understand Pickthall: Lo! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the difference of night and day, and the ships which run upon the sea with that which is of use to men, and the water which Allah sendeth down from the sky, thereby reviving the earth after its death, and dispersing all kinds of beasts therein, and (in) the ordinance of the winds, and the clouds obedient between heaven and earth: are signs (of Allah's Sovereignty) for people who have sense. Yusufali: Behold! in the creation of the heavens and the earth; in the alternation of the night and the day; in the sailing of the ships through the ocean for the profit of mankind; in the rain which Allah Sends down from the skies, and the life which He gives therewith to an earth that is dead; in the beasts of all kinds that He scatters through the earth; in the change of the winds, and the clouds which they Trail like their slaves between the sky and the earth;- (Here) indeed are Signs for a people that are wise.
Qarib: And among the people are those who take to themselves rivals, other than Allah, loving them as Allah is loved. But those who believe are more loving to Allah. When the harmdoers see when they see the punishment because the power altogether belongs to Allah, and that Allah is firm in punishment,
Sarwar: Some people consider certain things equal to God and love them just as one should love God. However, the strongest of the believers' love is their love of God. Had the unjust been able to reflect about their condition, when facing the torment, they would have had no doubt that to God belongs All-power and that He is stern in His retribution. Shakir: And there are some among men who take for themselves objects of worship besides Allah, whom they love as they love Allah, and those who believe are stronger in love for Allah and O, that those who are unjust had seen, when they see the chastisement, that the power is wholly Allah's and that Allah is severe in requiting (evil) Pickthall: Yet of mankind are some who take unto themselves (objects of worship which they set as) rivals to Allah, loving them with a love like (that which is the due) of Allah (only) - those who believe are stauncher in their love for Allah - Oh, that those who do evil had but known, (on the day) when they behold the doom, that power belongeth wholly to Allah, and that Allah is severe in punishment! Yusufali: Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah): They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.
Qarib: when those who were followed disown those who followed, and they see the punishment and relationships are broken off,
Sarwar: When the leaders see the torment and lose all their resources, they will denounce their followers. Shakir: When those who were followed shall renounce those who followed (them), and they see the chastisement and their ties are cut asunder Pickthall: (On the day) when those who were followed disown those who followed (them), and they behold the doom, and all their aims collapse with them. Yusufali: Then would those who are followed clear themselves of those who follow (them) : They would see the penalty, and all relations between them would be cut off.
Qarib: those who followed them will say: 'If only that we might return once, and disown them as they have disowned us. ' As such Allah will show them their own works to be regrets for them, and they shall never emerge from the Fire.
Sarwar: The followers will say, "Had we had the chance we also would have denounced our leaders." That is how God will show them their regrettable deeds. They will not be able to escape from hell fire. Shakir: And those who followed shall say: Had there been for us a return, then we would renounce them as they have renounced us. Thus will Allah show them their deeds to be intense regret to them, and they shall not come forth from the fire Pickthall: And those who were but followers will say: If a return were possible for us, we would disown them even as they have disowned us. Thus will Allah show them their own deeds as anguish for them, and they will not emerge from the Fire. Yusufali: And those who followed would say: "If only We had one more chance, We would clear ourselves of them, as they have cleared themselves of us." Thus will Allah show them (The fruits of) their deeds as (nothing but) regrets. Nor will there be a way for them out of the Fire.
Qarib: People, eat of what is lawful and good on the earth and do not walk in satan's footsteps, because he is for you a clear enemy,
Sarwar: People, eat of the good and lawful things on earth. Do not follow the footsteps of Satan; he is clearly your enemy. Shakir: O men! eat the lawful and good things out of what is in the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy Pickthall: O mankind! Eat of that which is lawful and wholesome in the earth, and follow not the footsteps of the devil. Lo! he is an open enemy for you. Yusufali: O ye people! Eat of what is on earth, Lawful and good; and do not follow the footsteps of the evil one, for he is to you an avowed enemy. |
