Sura 80: ABASA (HE FROWNED) - Juz' 30

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Qarib: He frowned and turned away
Sarwar: He frowned and then turned away
Shakir: He frowned and turned (his) back,
Pickthall: He frowned and turned away
Yusufali: (The Prophet) frowned and turned away,
Qarib: when the blind came to him.
Sarwar: from a blind man who had come up to him.
Shakir: Because there came to him the blind man
Pickthall: Because the blind man came unto him.
Yusufali: Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting).
Qarib: And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified.
Sarwar: You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself,
Shakir: And what would make you know that he would purify himself,
Pickthall: What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace)
Yusufali: But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?-
Qarib: (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him.
Sarwar: or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him.
Shakir: Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him?
Pickthall: Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him?
Yusufali: Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him?
Qarib: As for he who is sufficed
Sarwar: Yet you pay attention
Shakir: As for him who considers himself free from need (of you),
Pickthall: As for him who thinketh himself independent,
Yusufali: As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient,
Qarib: you attended to him,
Sarwar: to a rich man,
Shakir: To him do you address yourself
Pickthall: Unto him thou payest regard.
Yusufali: To him dost thou attend;
Qarib: although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified.
Sarwar: though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself.
Shakir: And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself
Pickthall: Yet it is not thy concern if he grow not (in grace).
Yusufali: Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding).
Qarib: And to him who came to you eagerly
Sarwar: As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance).
Shakir: And as to him who comes to you striving hard,
Pickthall: But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose
Yusufali: But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly,
Qarib: and fearfully,
Sarwar: and who has fear of God,
Shakir: And he fears,
Pickthall: And hath fear,
Yusufali: And with fear (in his heart),
Qarib: of him you were unmindful.
Sarwar: you ignore him.
Shakir: From him will you divert yourself
Pickthall: From him thou art distracted.
Yusufali: Of him wast thou unmindful.
