مَا كَذَبَ الْفُؤَادُ مَا رَأَى
﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: His heart did not lie of what he saw.
Sarwar: His (Muhammad's) heart did not lie to him about what his eyes had seen. Shakir: The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw Pickthall: The heart lied not (in seeing) what it saw. Yusufali: The (Prophet's) (mind and) heart in no way falsified that which he saw.
أَفَتُمَارُونَهُ عَلَى مَا يَرَى
﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: What, will you dispute with him about what he sees!
Sarwar: Will you then argue with him about what he saw? Shakir: What! do you then dispute with him as to what he saw? Pickthall: Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? Yusufali: Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he saw?
وَلَقَدْ رَآهُ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَى
﴿۱۳﴾
Qarib: Indeed, he saw him in another descent
Sarwar: He certainly saw him (Gabriel) during his other ascent Shakir: And certainly he saw him in another descent, Pickthall: And verily he saw him yet another time Yusufali: For indeed he saw him at a second descent,
عِنْدَ سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى
﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending
Sarwar: to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) Shakir: At the farthest lote-tree; Pickthall: By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, Yusufali: Near the Lote-tree beyond which none may pass:
عِنْدَهَا جَنَّةُ الْمَأْوَى
﴿۱۵﴾
Qarib: close to the Garden of Refuge.
Sarwar: near which is Paradise. Shakir: Near which is the garden, the place to be resorted to Pickthall: Nigh unto which is the Garden of Abode. Yusufali: Near it is the Garden of Abode.
إِذْ يَغْشَى السِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَى
﴿۱۶﴾
Qarib: When there comes to the Lote Tree, that which comes
Sarwar: When the tree was covered with a covering, Shakir: When that which covers covered the lote-tree; Pickthall: When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree, Yusufali: Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
مَا زَاغَ الْبَصَرُ وَمَا طَغَى
﴿۱۷﴾
Qarib: his eyes did not swerve, nor did they stray
Sarwar: (Muhammad's) eyes did not deceive him, nor did they lead him to falsehood. Shakir: The eye did not turn aside, nor did it exceed the limit Pickthall: The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. Yusufali: (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong!
لَقَدْ رَأَى مِنْ آيَاتِ رَبِّهِ الْكُبْرَى
﴿۱۸﴾
Qarib: for indeed he saw one of the greatest signs of his Lord.
Sarwar: He certainly saw the greatest (signs) of the existence of his Lord. Shakir: Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord Pickthall: Verily he saw one of the greater revelations of his Lord. Yusufali: For truly did he see, of the Signs of his Lord, the Greatest!
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ اللَّاتَ وَالْعُزَّى
﴿۱۹﴾
Qarib: (Among the idols) have you considered allat and al'uzza,
Sarwar: (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, Shakir: Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, Pickthall: Have ye thought upon Al-Lat and Al-'Uzza Yusufali: Have ye seen Lat. and 'Uzza,
وَمَنَاةَ الثَّالِثَةَ الْأُخْرَى
﴿۲۰﴾
Qarib: and, another, the third manat?
Sarwar: and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? Shakir: And Manat, the third, the last? Pickthall: And Manat, the third, the other? Yusufali: And another, the third (goddess), Manat? |
