Sura 5: AL-MAEDA (THE TABLE) - Juz' 6

Qarib: Enter, my people, the Holy Land which Allah has written for you. Do not turn back in your footsteps, lest you shall turn to be losers. '
Sarwar: Enter the sacred promised land which God has designated for you. Do not return to disbelief lest you become lost".
Shakir: O my people! enter the holy land which Allah has prescribed for you and turn not on your backs for then you will turn back losers
Pickthall: O my people! Go into the holy land which Allah hath ordained for you. Turn not in flight, for surely ye turn back as losers:
Yusufali: "O my people! Enter the holy land which Allah hath assigned unto you, and turn not back ignominiously, for then will ye be overthrown, to your own ruin."
Qarib: 'Moses, ' they replied, 'therein is a nation of giants. We will not enter until they depart from it; if they depart from it only then shall we enter. '
Sarwar: They said, "Moses, a giant race of people is living there. We shall never go there unless they leave the land first. If they leave it then we will enter."
Shakir: They said: O Musa! surely there is a strong race in it, and we will on no account enter it until they go out from it, so if they go out from it, then surely we will enter
Pickthall: They said: O Moses! Lo! a giant people (dwell) therein and lo! we go not in till they go forth from thence. When they go forth from thence, then we will enter (not till then).
Yusufali: They said: "O Moses! In this land are a people of exceeding strength: Never shall we enter it until they leave it: if (once) they leave, then shall we enter."
Qarib: Thereupon, two pious men whom Allah had favored said: 'Go in to them through the gate, and if you enter you shall surely be victorious. In Allah put your trust, if you are believers. '
Sarwar: Two God-fearing men on whom God had bestowed favors told them, "Proceed through the gates and when you enter the city you will be victorious. Have trust in God if you are true believers".
Shakir: Two men of those who feared, upon both of whom Allah had bestowed a favor, said: Enter upon them by the gate, for when you have entered it you shall surely be victorious, and on Allah should you rely if you are believers
Pickthall: Then out spake two of those who feared (their Lord, men) unto whom Allah had been gracious: Enter in upon them by the gate, for if ye enter by it, lo! ye will be victorious. So put your trust (in Allah) if ye are indeed believers.
Yusufali: (But) among (their) Allah-fearing men were two on whom Allah had bestowed His grace: They said: "Assault them at the (proper) Gate: when once ye are in, victory will be yours; But on Allah put your trust if ye have faith."
Qarib: They said: 'Moses, we will never go in so long as they are in it. Go, you and your Lord, to fight. We will stay here. '
Sarwar: They said, "(Moses), as long as they are in the land, we shall never go there. Go with your Lord to fight them but we shall stay where we are".
Shakir: They said: O Musa! we shall never enter it so long as they are in it; go therefore you and your Lord, then fight you both surely we will here sit down
Pickthall: They said: O Moses! We will never enter (the land) while they are in it. So go thou and thy Lord and fight! We will sit here.
Yusufali: They said: "O Moses! while they remain there, never shall we be able to enter, to the end of time. Go thou, and thy Lord, and fight ye two, while we sit here (and watch)."
Qarib: He said: 'Lord, I have none but myself and my brother. Set a barrier between us and the wicked people. '
Sarwar: (Moses) said, "Lord, I can only speak for myself and my brother; keep us away from the evil-doers".
Shakir: He said: My Lord! Surely I have no control (upon any) but my own self and my brother; therefore make a separation between us and the nation of transgressors
Pickthall: He said: My Lord! I have control of none but myself and my brother, so distinguish between us and the wrong-doing folk.
Yusufali: He said: "O my Lord! I have power only over myself and my brother: so separate us from this rebellious people!"
Qarib: He said: 'They shall be forbidden this land for forty years, during which time they shall wander (homeless) on the earth. Do not grieve for these wicked people.'
Sarwar: The Lord said, "The land will be prohibited to them for forty years (during all such time) they will wander in the land. Do not feel sad for the evil-doing people."
Shakir: He said: So it shall surely be forbidden to them for forty years, they shall wander about in the land, therefore do not grieve for the nation of transgressors
Pickthall: (Their Lord) said: For this the land will surely be forbidden them for forty years that they will wander in the earth, bewildered. So grieve not over the wrongdoing folk.
Yusufali: Allah said: "Therefore will the land be out of their reach for forty years: In distraction will they wander through the land: But sorrow thou not over these rebellious people.
Qarib: Recite to them in all truth the news of Adam's two sons; how they each made an offering, and how the offering of the one was accepted while that of the other was not. He said: 'I will surely kill you. ' (The other) said: 'Allah accepts only from the righteous.
Sarwar: (Muhammad) tell them the true story of the two sons of Adam (Abel and Cain). Each one of them offered a sacrifice. God accepted the sacrifice of one of them (Abel) but not that of the other (Cain) who then said to his brother, "I shall certainly kill you." (Abel) replied, "God only accepts the offerings of the pious ones.
Shakir: And relate to them the story of the two sons of Adam with truth when they both offered an offering, but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other. He said: I I will most certainly slay you. (The other) said: Allah only accepts from those who guard (against evil)
Pickthall: But recite unto them with truth the tale of the two sons of Adam, how they offered each a sacrifice, and it was accepted from the one of them and it was not accepted from the other. (The one) said: I will surely kill thee. (The other) answered: Allah accepteth only from those who ward off (evil).
Yusufali: Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam. Behold! they each presented a sacrifice (to Allah): It was accepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: "Be sure I will slay thee." "Surely," said the former, "Allah doth accept of the sacrifice of those who are righteous.
Qarib: If you stretch your hand to kill me, I shall not stretch mine to kill you; for I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
Sarwar: Even if you try to kill me, I certainly shall not try to kill you. I have fear of God, the Lord of the creation.
Shakir: If you will stretch forth your hand towards me to slay me, I am not one to stretch forth my hand towards you to slay you surely I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds:
Pickthall: Even if thou stretch out thy hand against me to kill me, I shall not stretch out my hand against thee to kill thee, lo! I fear Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
Yusufali: "If thou dost stretch thy hand against me, to slay me, it is not for me to stretch my hand against thee to slay thee: for I do fear Allah, the cherisher of the worlds.
Qarib: I would rather you bear my sin and your sin and become among the inhabitants of Hell. Such is the recompense of the harmdoers. '
Sarwar: I would prefer you to take sole responsibility for both our sins and thus become a dweller of hell; this is what an unjust person deserves."
Shakir: Surely I wish that you should bear the sin committed against me and your own sin, and so you would be of the inmates of the fire, and this is the recompense of the unjust
Pickthall: Lo! I would rather thou shouldst bear the punishment of the sin against me and thine own sin and become one of the owners of the fire. That is the reward of evil-doers.
Yusufali: "For me, I intend to let thee draw on thyself my sin as well as thine, for thou wilt be among the companions of the fire, and that is the reward of those who do wrong."
Qarib: His soul made it seem fair to him to slay his brother; he killed him and became one of the lost.
Sarwar: (Cain's) soul prompted him to kill his own brother. In doing so he became of those who lose.
Shakir: Then his mind facilitated to him the slaying of his brother so he slew him; then he became one of the losers
Pickthall: But (the other's) mind imposed on him the killing of his brother, so he slew him and became one of the losers.
Yusufali: The (selfish) soul of the other led him to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and became (himself) one of the lost ones.
