Sura 44: AD-DUKHAN (SMOKE) - Juz' 25

Qarib: and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment
Sarwar: We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment
Shakir: And certainly We delivered the children of Israel from the abasing chastisement,
Pickthall: And We delivered the Children of Israel from the shameful doom;
Yusufali: We did deliver aforetime the Children of Israel from humiliating Punishment,
Qarib: from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin,
Sarwar: and from the Pharaoh. He was the chief of the transgressors.
Shakir: From Firon; surely he was haughty, (and) one of the extravagant
Pickthall: (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones.
Yusufali: Inflicted by Pharaoh, for he was arrogant (even) among inordinate transgressors.
Qarib: and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time).
Sarwar: We gave preference to the Israelites over the other people with Our knowledge
Shakir: And certainly We chose them, having knowledge, above the nations
Pickthall: And We chose them, purposely, above (all) creatures.
Yusufali: And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly,
Qarib: And gave signs to them in which there was a clear trial.
Sarwar: and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them.
Shakir: And We gave them of the communications wherein was clear blessing
Pickthall: And We gave them portents wherein was a clear trial.
Yusufali: And granted them Signs in which there was a manifest trial
Qarib: Yet these say:
Sarwar: These people say,
Shakir: Most surely these do say:
Pickthall: Lo! these, forsooth, are saying:
Yusufali: As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth:
Qarib: 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived.
Sarwar: "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again.
Shakir: There is naught but our first death and we shall not be raised again
Pickthall: There is naught but our first death, and we shall not be raised again.
Yusufali: "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again.
Qarib: Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true. '
Sarwar: Bring back to life our fathers if what you say is true".
Shakir: So bring our fathers (back), if you are truthful
Pickthall: Bring back our fathers, if ye speak the truth!
Yusufali: "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!"
Qarib: Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners.
Sarwar: Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals.
Shakir: Are they better or the people of Tubba and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty
Pickthall: Are they better, or the folk of Tubb'a and those before them? We destroyed them, for surely they were guilty.
Yusufali: What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin.
Qarib: It was not in play that We created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them.
Sarwar: We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them for Our own amusement.
Shakir: And We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them in sport
Pickthall: And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play.
Yusufali: We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport:
Qarib: We created them in nothing else except the truth. But most do not know.
Sarwar: We have created them for a genuine purpose, but most people do not know.
Shakir: We did not create them both but with the truth, but most of them do not know
Pickthall: We created them not save with truth; but most of them know not.
Yusufali: We created them not except for just ends: but most of them do not understand.
