Qarib: Or, He wrecks them for what they have earned, but He pardons a lot.
Sarwar: or He could have destroyed them as punishment for the human being's deeds. However, God pardons many sins. Shakir: Or He may make them founder for what they have earned, and (even then) pardon most; Pickthall: Or He causeth them to perish on account of that which they have earned - And He forgiveth much - Yusufali: Or He can cause them to perish because of the (evil) which (the men) have earned; but much doth He forgive.
Qarib: Those who dispute Our verses may know that they have no asylum.
Sarwar: He knows all those who dispute His revelations. They will find no way to escape from (His torment). Shakir: And (that) those who dispute about Our communications may know; there is no place of refuge for them Pickthall: And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. Yusufali: But let those know, who dispute about Our Signs, that there is for them no way of escape.
Qarib: That which you have been given is but the enjoyment of the present life. Better and more enduring is that which Allah has for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.
Sarwar: Whatever you have received is just a means of enjoyment for this life but the reward of God for the believers and those who trust in their Lord will be better and everlasting. Shakir: So whatever thing you are given, that is only a provision of this world's life, and what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who believe and rely on their Lord Pickthall: Now whatever ye have been given is but a passing comfort for the life of the world, and that which Allah hath is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord, Yusufali: Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord:
Qarib: And those who avoid the major sins and indecencies and, when angered, forgive;
Sarwar: (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, Shakir: And those who. shun the great sins and indecencies, and whenever they are angry they forgive Pickthall: And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, Yusufali: Those who avoid the greater crimes and shameful deeds, and, when they are angry even then forgive;
Qarib: those who answer their Lord, establish the prayers, and their affairs are by consultation; who spend of that which We have given them,
Sarwar: who have pledged their obedience to the Lord, who are steadfast in prayer, who conduct their affairs with consultation among themselves, who spend for the cause of God out of what We have given them, Shakir: And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them Pickthall: And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, Yusufali: Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish regular Prayer; who (conduct) their affairs by mutual Consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them for Sustenance;
Qarib: and when harmed they become victorious.
Sarwar: and those who, when suffering a great injustice, seek to defend themselves. Shakir: And those who, when great wrong afflicts them, defend themselves Pickthall: And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, Yusufali: And those who, when an oppressive wrong is inflicted on them, (are not cowed but) help and defend themselves.
Qarib: The recompense of a sin is a sin like it, but whosoever forgives and seeks to reform, his wage will be with Allah. Surely, He does not love the harmdoers.
Sarwar: The recompense for evil will be equivalent to the deed. He who pardons (the evil done to him) and reforms himself, will receive his reward from God. God certainly does not love the unjust. Shakir: And the recompense of evil is punishment like it, but whoever forgives and amends, he shall have his reward from Allah; surely He does not love the unjust Pickthall: The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. Yusufali: The recompense for an injury is an injury equal thereto (in degree): but if a person forgives and makes reconciliation, his reward is due from Allah: for (Allah) loveth not those who do wrong.
Qarib: And whosoever harms after he has been harmed there is no blame upon them.
Sarwar: Those who successfully defend themselves after being wronged will not be questioned. Shakir: And whoever defends himself after his being oppressed, these it is against whom there is no way (to blame) Pickthall: And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. Yusufali: But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame.
Qarib: The blame is only against those who wrong people, and are wrongfully insolent in the earth, for them there is a painful punishment.
Sarwar: Only those who do injustice to people and commit rebellion on earth for no reason will be questioned. They will suffer a painful torment. Shakir: The way (to blame) is only against those who oppress men and revolt in the earth unjustly; these shall have a painful punishment Pickthall: The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. Yusufali: The blame is only against those who oppress men and wrong-doing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a penalty grievous.
Qarib: Surely, he who bears patiently and forgives indeed that is true constancy.
Sarwar: To exercise patience and forgive (the wrong done to one) is the proof of genuine determination. Shakir: And whoever is patient and forgiving, these most surely are actions due to courage Pickthall: And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the steadfast heart of things. Yusufali: But indeed if any show patience and forgive, that would truly be an exercise of courageous will and resolution in the conduct of affairs. |
