Sura 21: AL-ANBIYA (THE PROPHETS) - Juz' 17

Qarib: And Job when he called to his Lord: 'Affliction has befallen me, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful. '
Sarwar: When Job prayed, "Lord, I have been afflicted with hardships. Have mercy on me; You are the Most Merciful of those who have mercy,
Shakir: And Ayub, when he cried to his Lord, (saying): Harm has afflicted me, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful
Pickthall: And Job, when he cried unto his Lord, (saying): Lo! adversity afflicteth me, and Thou art Most Merciful of all who show mercy.
Yusufali: And (remember) Job, when He cried to his Lord, "Truly distress has seized me, but Thou art the Most Merciful of those that are merciful."
Qarib: We answered him and removed his affliction, and We gave his people, and those like them that were with them, mercy from Us, as a reminder to those who worship.
Sarwar: "We answered his prayer, relieved him from his hardships, brought his family (back to him) and gave him twice as much property as that (which was destroyed). It was a mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers.
Shakir: Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers
Pickthall: Then We heard his prayer and removed that adversity from which he suffered, and We gave him his household (that he had lost) and the like thereof along with them, a mercy from Our store, and a remembrance for the worshippers;
Yusufali: So We listened to him: We removed the distress that was on him, and We restored his people to him, and doubled their number,- as a Grace from Ourselves, and a thing for commemoration, for all who serve Us.
Qarib: And Ishmael, Idris, and ThulKifl (the son of Job) each were patient.
Sarwar: Ismael, Idris and Dhul Kifl all were people of great patience.
Shakir: And Ismail and Idris and Zulkifl; all were of the patient ones;
Pickthall: And (mention) Ishmael, and Idris, and Dhu'l-Kifl. All were of the steadfast.
Yusufali: And (remember) Isma'il, Idris, and Zul-kifl, all (men) of constancy and patience;
Qarib: We admitted them to Our Mercy, for they were of the righteous.
Sarwar: We encompassed them in Our mercy; they were righteous people.
Shakir: And We caused them to enter into Our mercy, surely they were of the good ones
Pickthall: And We brought them in unto Our mercy. Lo! they are among the righteous.
Yusufali: We admitted them to Our mercy: for they were of the righteous ones.
Qarib: And ThulNun (Prophet Jonah), he went away in anger thinking We had no power over him. But in the darkness he cried: 'There is no god except You. Exaltations to You! I was among the harmdoers. '
Sarwar: Dhun Nun went away in anger and thought that We would never have power over him, but in darkness he cried, "Lord, You are the Only God whom I glorify. I have certainly done wrong to myself (so forgive me)".
Shakir: And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss
Pickthall: And (mention) Dhu'n-Nun, when he went off in anger and deemed that We had no power over him, but he cried out in the darkness, saying: There is no Allah save Thee. Be Thou Glorified! Lo! I have been a wrong-doer.
Yusufali: And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the deptHs of darkness, "There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong!"
Qarib: We heard his prayer and saved him from grief. As such We shall save the believers.
Sarwar: We answered his prayer and saved him from his grief. Thus We save the faithful ones.
Shakir: So We responded to him and delivered him from the grief and thus do We deliver the believers
Pickthall: Then we heard his prayer and saved him from the anguish. Thus we save believers.
Yusufali: So We listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do We deliver those who have faith.
Qarib: And Zachariah when he called to his Lord saying: 'Lord, do not let me remain by myself; You are the Best of inheritors. '
Sarwar: Zachariah prayed, "Lord, do not leave me alone without offspring, although you are the best heir".
Shakir: And Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: O my Lord leave me not alone; and Thou art the best of inheritors
Pickthall: And Zachariah, when he cried unto his Lord: My Lord! Leave me not childless, though Thou art the Best of inheritors.
Yusufali: And (remember) Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: "O my Lord! leave me not without offspring, though thou art the best of inheritors."
Qarib: So We answered him, and gave him John, curing his wife (of sterility). They raced with each other in good works and called on Us out of yearning and awe, and they were humble to Us.
Sarwar: We answered his prayer and granted him his son, John, by making his wife fruitful. They were people who would compete with each other in good deeds and pray to Us with love and reverence. With Us they were all humble people.
Shakir: So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us
Pickthall: Then We heard his prayer, and bestowed upon him John, and adjusted his wife (to bear a child) for him. Lo! they used to vie one with the other in good deeds, and they cried unto Us in longing and in fear, and were submissive unto Us.
Yusufali: So We listened to him: and We granted him Yahya: We cured his wife's (Barrenness) for him. These (three) were ever quick in emulation in good works; they used to call on Us with love and reverence, and humble themselves before Us.
Qarib: And she (Mary) who guarded her virginity. We breathed into her of Our spirit (Gabriel), and made her and her son a sign for the worlds.
Sarwar: Into the woman who maintained her chastity We breathed Our Spirit and made her and her son a miracle for all people.
Shakir: And she who guarded her chastity, so We breathed into her of Our inspiration and made her and her son a sign for the nations
Pickthall: And she who was chaste, therefor We breathed into her (something) of Our Spirit and made her and her son a token for (all) peoples.
Yusufali: And (remember) her who guarded her chastity: We breathed into her of Our spirit, and We made her and her son a sign for all peoples.
Qarib: Indeed, this nation of yours is one nation, and I am Your Lord, therefore worship Me.
Sarwar: People, you are one nation and I am your Lord. Worship Me.
Shakir: Surely this Islam is your religion, one religion (only), and I am your Lord, therefore serve Me
Pickthall: Lo! this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
Yusufali: Verily, this brotherhood of yours is a single brotherhood, and I am your Lord and Cherisher: therefore serve Me (and no other).
