وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ خَاشِعَةٌ
﴿۲﴾
On that Day faces shall be humbled, (2)
عَامِلَةٌ نَاصِبَةٌ
﴿۳﴾
laboring, wornout, (3)
تَصْلَى نَارًا حَامِيَةً
﴿۴﴾
roasting at a scorching Fire (4)
تُسْقَى مِنْ عَيْنٍ آنِيَةٍ
﴿۵﴾
that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, (5)
لَيْسَ لَهُمْ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِنْ ضَرِيعٍ
﴿۶﴾
no food for them except thorny plants (6)
لَا يُسْمِنُ وَلَا يُغْنِي مِنْ جُوعٍ
﴿۷﴾
which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. (7)
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاعِمَةٌ
﴿۸﴾
(Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, (8)
لِسَعْيِهَا رَاضِيَةٌ
﴿۹﴾
well pleased with their striving, (9)
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٍ
﴿۱۰﴾
in a Garden on high, (10)
لَا تَسْمَعُ فِيهَا لَاغِيَةً
﴿۱۱﴾
where they will hear no idle talk. (11)
