the jews say: 'the hand of allah is chained. ' their own hands are chained! and they are cursed for what they said! rather, his hands are both outstretched, he spends as he will. that which allah has sent down to you will surely increase the tyranny and disbelief of many of them. we have stirred among them enmity and hatred up until the day of resurrection. whenever they kindle the fire of war, allah extinguishes it. they spread corruption in the land, and allah does not love those who corrupt. (64) | | وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ يَدُ اللّهِ مَغْلُولَةٌ غُلَّتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَلُعِنُواْ بِمَا قَالُواْ بَلْ يَدَاهُ مَبْسُوطَتَانِ يُنفِقُ كَيْفَ يَشَاءُ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا وَأَلْقَيْنَا بَيْنَهُمُ الْعَدَاوَةَ وَالْبَغْضَاء إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ كُلَّمَا أَوْقَدُواْ نَارًا لِّلْحَرْبِ أَطْفَأَهَا اللّهُ وَيَسْعَوْنَ فِي الأَرْضِ فَسَادًا وَاللّهُ لاَ يُحِبُّ الْمُفْسِدِينَ ﴿64﴾ |
if the people of the book had believed and kept from evil, we would pardon them their sins and admit them to the gardens of delight. (65) | | وَلَوْ أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ آمَنُواْ وَاتَّقَوْاْ لَكَفَّرْنَا عَنْهُمْ سَيِّئَاتِهِمْ وَلأدْخَلْنَاهُمْ جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ﴿65﴾ |
if they had established the torah and the gospel and what was sent down to them from their lord they would be eating from above them and from beneath their feet. some of them are a righteous nation; but many of them evil is what they do. (66) | | وَلَوْ أَنَّهُمْ أَقَامُواْ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنجِيلَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيهِم مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ لأكَلُواْ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِن تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِم مِّنْهُمْ أُمَّةٌ مُّقْتَصِدَةٌ وَكَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ سَاء مَا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿66﴾ |
o messenger, deliver what is sent down to you from your lord; if you do not, you will not have conveyed his message. allah protects you from the people. allah does not guide the nation, the unbelievers. (67) | | يَا أَيُّهَا الرَّسُولُ بَلِّغْ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ وَإِن لَّمْ تَفْعَلْ فَمَا بَلَّغْتَ رِسَالَتَهُ وَاللّهُ يَعْصِمُكَ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِنَّ اللّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْكَافِرِينَ ﴿67﴾ |
say: 'people of the book, you are not upon anything until you establish the torah and the gospel and that which is sent down to you from your lord. ' and that which is sent down to you (prophet muhammad) from your lord will surely increase the tyranny and disbelief of many of them. but do not grieve for the unbelieving nation. (68) | | قُلْ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لَسْتُمْ عَلَى شَيْءٍ حَتَّىَ تُقِيمُواْ التَّوْرَاةَ وَالإِنجِيلَ وَمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلَيَزِيدَنَّ كَثِيرًا مِّنْهُم مَّا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ مِن رَّبِّكَ طُغْيَانًا وَكُفْرًا فَلاَ تَأْسَ عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ ﴿68﴾ |
those who believe, jews, sabaeans, and nazarenes whoever believes in allah and the last day and does good shall neither fear, nor shall they sorrow (as long as they do not reject any of the prophets). (69) | | إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَالَّذِينَ هَادُواْ وَالصَّابِؤُونَ وَالنَّصَارَى مَنْ آمَنَ بِاللّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ وعَمِلَ صَالِحًا فَلاَ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلاَ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴿69﴾ |
we took a covenant with the children of israel and sent forth messengers to them. but whenever a messenger came to them with that which did not suit their fancies they belied some and killed others. (70) | | لَقَدْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَاقَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَأَرْسَلْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ رُسُلًا كُلَّمَا جَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ بِمَا لاَ تَهْوَى أَنْفُسُهُمْ فَرِيقًا كَذَّبُواْ وَفَرِيقًا يَقْتُلُونَ ﴿70﴾ |
they thought there would be no trial; so they were blind and deaf. then allah turned towards them; then again many of them were blind and deaf. and allah is the seer of what they do. (71) | | وَحَسِبُواْ أَلاَّ تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٌ فَعَمُواْ وَصَمُّواْ ثُمَّ تَابَ اللّهُ عَلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ عَمُواْ وَصَمُّواْ كَثِيرٌ مِّنْهُمْ وَاللّهُ بَصِيرٌ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿71﴾ |
the unbelievers are those who say: 'allah is the messiah, the son of mary. ' but the messiah said: 'children of israel, worship allah, my lord and your lord. 'he who associates anything with allah, allah has indeed forbidden paradise to him, and his abode shall be in the fire. the harmdoers shall have no helpers. (72) | | لَقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ هُوَ الْمَسِيحُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ وَقَالَ الْمَسِيحُ يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ اعْبُدُواْ اللّهَ رَبِّي وَرَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُ مَن يُشْرِكْ بِاللّهِ فَقَدْ حَرَّمَ اللّهُ عَلَيهِ الْجَنَّةَ وَمَأْوَاهُ النَّارُ وَمَا لِلظَّالِمِينَ مِنْ أَنصَارٍ ﴿72﴾ |
indeed those who say: 'allah is the third of the trinity' became unbelievers. there is but one god. if they do not desist in what they say, a painful punishment will afflict those of them that disbelieve. (73) | | لَّقَدْ كَفَرَ الَّذِينَ قَالُواْ إِنَّ اللّهَ ثَالِثُ ثَلاَثَةٍ وَمَا مِنْ إِلَهٍ إِلاَّ إِلَهٌ وَاحِدٌ وَإِن لَّمْ يَنتَهُواْ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ لَيَمَسَّنَّ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ ﴿73﴾ |
