﴿۱﴾
Qarib: Have We not expanded your chest for you (Prophet Muhammad),
Sarwar: (Muhammad), have We not comforted your heart, Shakir: Have We not expanded for you your breast, Pickthall: Have We not caused thy bosom to dilate, Yusufali: Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-
﴿۲﴾
Qarib: and relieved you of your burden
Sarwar: relieved you of the burden Shakir: And taken off from you your burden, Pickthall: And eased thee of the burden Yusufali: And removed from thee thy burden
﴿۳﴾
Qarib: that weighed down your back?
Sarwar: which had been a heavy weight upon your back Shakir: Which pressed heavily upon your back, Pickthall: Which weighed down thy back; Yusufali: The which did gall thy back?-
﴿۴﴾
Qarib: Have We not raised your remembrance?
Sarwar: and granted you an exalted reputation? Shakir: And exalted for you your esteem? Pickthall: And exalted thy fame? Yusufali: And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?
﴿۵﴾
Qarib: Indeed, hardship is followed by ease,
Sarwar: After every difficulty there is relief. Shakir: Surely with difficulty is ease Pickthall: But lo! with hardship goeth ease, Yusufali: So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:
إِنَّ مَعَ الْعُسْرِ يُسْرًا
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: indeed, hardship is followed by ease!
Sarwar: Certainly, after every difficulty there comes relief. Shakir: With difficulty is surely ease Pickthall: Lo! with hardship goeth ease; Yusufali: Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: So, when you have finished (your prayer), labor (in supplication),
Sarwar: When you are free from (your obligations), strive hard (to worship God) Shakir: So when you are free, nominate Pickthall: So when thou art relieved, still toil Yusufali: Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: and let your longing be for your Lord (in humility).
Sarwar: and be devoted to your Lord's service. Shakir: And make your Lord your exclusive object Pickthall: And strive to please thy Lord. Yusufali: And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention. |
