﴿۵﴾
Qarib: Does he think that none has power over him!
Sarwar: Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? Shakir: Does he think that no one has power over him? Pickthall: Thinketh he that none hath power over him? Yusufali: Thinketh he, that none hath power over him?
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: He will say: 'I have destroyed a vast wealth. '
Sarwar: (He boasts and shows off) saying, "I have spent a great deal of money (for the cause of God)". Shakir: He shall say: I have wasted much wealth Pickthall: And he saith: I have destroyed vast wealth: Yusufali: He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance!
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: Does he think that none has observed him?
Sarwar: Does he think that no one has seen him? Shakir: Does he think that no one sees him? Pickthall: Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? Yusufali: Thinketh he that none beholdeth him?
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: Have We not given him two eyes,
Sarwar: Have We not given him two eyes, Shakir: Have We not given him two eyes, Pickthall: Did We not assign unto him two eyes Yusufali: Have We not made for him a pair of eyes?-
﴿۹﴾
Qarib: a tongue, and two lips,
Sarwar: a tongue, and two lips? Shakir: And a tongue and two lips, Pickthall: And a tongue and two lips, Yusufali: And a tongue, and a pair of lips?-
Qarib: and guided him on the two paths (of good and evil)?
Sarwar: Have We not shown him the ways of good and evil? Shakir: And pointed out to him the two conspicuous ways? Pickthall: And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? Yusufali: And shown him the two highways?

Sarwar: Yet, he has not entered into Aqaba Shakir: But he would not attempt the uphill road, Pickthall: But he hath not attempted the Ascent - Yusufali: But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep.
Qarib: What could let you know what the height is!
Sarwar: Would that you knew what Aqaba is! Shakir: And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? Pickthall: Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Ascent is! - Yusufali: And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?-
