بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفِينَ ﴿۱﴾
Qarib: Woe to the diminishers,
Sarwar: Woe to those who are fraudulent in (weighing and measuring),
Shakir: Woe to the defrauders,
Pickthall: Woe unto the defrauders:
Yusufali: Woe to those that deal in fraud,-
الَّذِينَ إِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَ ﴿۲﴾
Qarib: who, when people measure for them, take full measure,
Sarwar: those who demand a full measure from others
Shakir: Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully,
Pickthall: Those who when they take the measure from mankind demand it full,
Yusufali: Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, exact full measure,
وَإِذَا كَالُوهُمْ أَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَ ﴿۳﴾
Qarib: but when they measure or weigh for others, they reduce!
Sarwar: but when they measure or weigh, give less.
Shakir: But when they measure out to others or weigh out for them, they are deficient
Pickthall: But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss.
Yusufali: But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due.
أَلَا يَظُنُّ أُولَئِكَ أَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَ ﴿۴﴾
Qarib: Do they not think that they will be resurrected
Sarwar: Do they not realize that they will be resurrected
Shakir: Do not these think that they shall be raised again
Pickthall: Do such (men) not consider that they will be raised again
Yusufali: Do they not think that they will be called to account?-
لِيَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ ﴿۵﴾
Qarib: for a great Day,
Sarwar: on a great day
Shakir: For a mighty day,
Pickthall: Unto an Awful Day,
Yusufali: On a Mighty Day,
يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿۶﴾
Qarib: the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
Sarwar: when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe?
Shakir: The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds?
Pickthall: The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
Yusufali: A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds?
كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ ﴿۷﴾
Qarib: No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen.
Sarwar: Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin.
Shakir: Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin
Pickthall: Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin -
Yusufali: Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ ﴿۸﴾
Qarib: What could let you know what the Sijjeen is!
Sarwar: Would that you knew what Sijin is!?
Shakir: And what will make you know what the Sijjin is?
Pickthall: Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! -
Yusufali: And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?
كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ ﴿۹﴾
Qarib: (It is) a marked Book.
Sarwar: It is a comprehensively written Book (of records).
Shakir: It is a written book
Pickthall: A written record.
Yusufali: (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: Woe on that Day to those who belied it,
Sarwar: Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations
Shakir: Woe on that day to the rejecters,
Pickthall: Woe unto the repudiators on that day!
Yusufali: Woe, that Day, to those that deny-
