كَلَّا إِنَّهَا تَذْكِرَةٌ
﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: No indeed, this is a Reminder;
Sarwar: These verses are a reminder Shakir: Nay! surely it is an admonishment Pickthall: Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, Yusufali: By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction:
فَمَنْ شَاءَ ذَكَرَهُ
﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: and whosoever wills, shall remember it.
Sarwar: so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. Shakir: So let him who pleases mind it Pickthall: So let whosoever will pay heed to it, Yusufali: Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance.
فِي صُحُفٍ مُكَرَّمَةٍ
﴿۱۳﴾
Qarib: upon highly honored pages,
Sarwar: (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, Shakir: In honored books, Pickthall: On honoured leaves Yusufali: (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour,
مَرْفُوعَةٍ مُطَهَّرَةٍ
﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: exalted, purified,
Sarwar: exalted, purified, Shakir: Exalted, purified, Pickthall: Exalted, purified, Yusufali: Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy,
بِأَيْدِي سَفَرَةٍ
﴿۱۵﴾
Qarib: by the hands of scribes
Sarwar: by the hands of the noble, virtuous, Shakir: In the hands of scribes Pickthall: (Set down) by scribes Yusufali: (Written) by the hands of scribes-
كِرَامٍ بَرَرَةٍ
﴿۱۶﴾
Qarib: noble and pious.
Sarwar: and angelic scribes. Shakir: Noble, virtuous Pickthall: Noble and righteous. Yusufali: Honourable and Pious and Just.
قُتِلَ الْإِنْسَانُ مَا أَكْفَرَهُ
﴿۱۷﴾
Qarib: Perish the human! How unthankful he is!
Sarwar: May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? Shakir: Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! Pickthall: Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! Yusufali: Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah;
مِنْ أَيِّ شَيْءٍ خَلَقَهُ
﴿۱۸﴾
Qarib: From what did He create him?
Sarwar: From what has God created him? Shakir: Of what thing did He create him? Pickthall: From what thing doth He create him? Yusufali: From what stuff hath He created him?
مِنْ نُطْفَةٍ خَلَقَهُ فَقَدَّرَهُ
﴿۱۹﴾
Qarib: From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him,
Sarwar: He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate Shakir: Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, Pickthall: From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, Yusufali: From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions;
ثُمَّ السَّبِيلَ يَسَّرَهُ
﴿۲۰﴾
Qarib: then eased his path for him,
Sarwar: and made the path of guidance easy for him to follow. Shakir: Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) Pickthall: Then maketh the way easy for him, Yusufali: Then doth He make His path smooth for him; |
