Qarib: even after we are fragmented bones? '
Sarwar: after we have become bones and dust?"
Shakir: What! when we are rotten bones?
Pickthall: Even after we are crumbled bones?
Yusufali: "What! - when we shall have become rotten bones?"
Qarib: They will say: 'Then we are returned lost! '
Sarwar: They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss".
Shakir: They said: That then would be a return occasioning loss
Pickthall: They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding.
Yusufali: They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!"
Qarib: But it will be only a single blow,
Sarwar: However, it will only take a single blast
Shakir: But it shall be only a single cry,
Pickthall: Surely it will need but one shout,
Yusufali: But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry,
Qarib: and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive).
Sarwar: to bring them out of their graves and back to life on the earth's surface.
Shakir: When lo! they shall be wakeful
Pickthall: And lo! they will be awakened.
Yusufali: When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment).
Qarib: Have you received the story of Moses?
Sarwar: (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses
Shakir: Has not there come to you the story of Musa?
Pickthall: Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses?
Yusufali: Has the story of Moses reached thee?
Qarib: His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa,
Sarwar: when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa,
Shakir: When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice,
Pickthall: How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa,
Yusufali: Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:-
Qarib: saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent,
Sarwar: saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds.
Shakir: Go to Firon, surely he has become inordinate
Pickthall: (Saying:) Go thou unto Pharaoh - Lo! he hath rebelled -
Yusufali: "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds:
فَقُلْ هَلْ لَكَ إِلَى أَنْ تَزَكَّى ﴿۱۸﴾
Qarib: and say: "Will you purify yourself,
Sarwar: And say to him, "Would you like to reform yourself?
Shakir: Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself:
Pickthall: And say (unto him): Hast thou (will) to grow (in grace)?
Yusufali: "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?-
Qarib: that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)."
Sarwar: I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him".
Shakir: And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear
Pickthall: Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him).
Yusufali: "'And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him?'"
Qarib: He showed him the mighty sign,
Sarwar: Moses showed him the great miracle
Shakir: So he showed him the mighty sign
Pickthall: And he showed him the tremendous token.
Yusufali: Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign.
