بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
وَالْعَادِيَاتِ ضَبْحًا
﴿۱﴾
Qarib: By the snorting runners (the horses),
Sarwar: (I swear) by the snorting chargers (of the warriors), whose hoofs strike against the rocks Shakir: I swear by the runners breathing pantingly, Pickthall: By the snorting courses, Yusufali: By the (Steeds) that run, with panting (breath),
فَالْمُورِيَاتِ قَدْحًا
﴿۲﴾
Qarib: by the strikers of fire,
Sarwar: and produce sparks Shakir: Then those that produce fire striking, Pickthall: Striking sparks of fire Yusufali: And strike sparks of fire,
فَالْمُغِيرَاتِ صُبْحًا
﴿۳﴾
Qarib: by the dawnraiders,
Sarwar: while running during a raid at dawn, Shakir: Then those that make raids at morn, Pickthall: And scouring to the raid at dawn, Yusufali: And push home the charge in the morning,
فَأَثَرْنَ بِهِ نَقْعًا
﴿۴﴾
Qarib: raising a trail of dust,
Sarwar: and leave behind a cloud of dust Shakir: Then thereby raise dust, Pickthall: Then, therewith, with their trail of dust, Yusufali: And raise the dust in clouds the while,
فَوَسَطْنَ بِهِ جَمْعًا
﴿۵﴾
Qarib: dividing the gathering.
Sarwar: which engulfs the enemy. Shakir: Then rush thereby upon an assembly: Pickthall: Cleaving, as one, the centre (of the foe), Yusufali: And penetrate forthwith into the midst (of the foe) en masse;-
إِنَّ الْإِنْسَانَ لِرَبِّهِ لَكَنُودٌ
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: Indeed, the human is ungrateful to his Lord.
Sarwar: The human being is certainly ungrateful to his Lord. Shakir: Most surely man is ungrateful to his Lord Pickthall: Lo! man is an ingrate unto his Lord Yusufali: Truly man is, to his Lord, ungrateful;
وَإِنَّهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ لَشَهِيدٌ
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: To this he himself shall bear witness.
Sarwar: He himself knows this very well. Shakir: And most surely he is a witness of that Pickthall: And lo! he is a witness unto that; Yusufali: And to that (fact) he bears witness (by his deeds);
وَإِنَّهُ لِحُبِّ الْخَيْرِ لَشَدِيدٌ
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: And indeed he is ardent for the love of good (wealth, becoming greedy).
Sarwar: He certainly has a strong love for wealth and riches. Shakir: And most surely he is tenacious in the love of wealth Pickthall: And lo! in the love of wealth he is violent. Yusufali: And violent is he in his love of wealth.
أَفَلَا يَعْلَمُ إِذَا بُعْثِرَ مَا فِي الْقُبُورِ
﴿۹﴾
Qarib: Does he not know that when that which is in the graves is overthrown,
Sarwar: Does he not know that on the day when those in the graves are resurrected Shakir: Does he not then know when what is in the graves is raised, Pickthall: Knoweth he not that, when the contents of the graves are poured forth Yusufali: Does he not know,- when that which is in the graves is scattered abroad
وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي الصُّدُورِ
﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: and that which is in the chest is brought out,
Sarwar: and all that is in the hearts is made public, Shakir: And what is in the breasts is made apparent? Pickthall: And the secrets of the breasts are made known, Yusufali: And that which is (locked up) in (human) breasts is made manifest-
إِنَّ رَبَّهُمْ بِهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَخَبِيرٌ
﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: indeed, on that Day their Lord will be aware of them!
Sarwar: their Lord will examine his deeds? Shakir: Most surely their Lord that day shall be fully aware of them Pickthall: On that day will their Lord be perfectly informed concerning them. Yusufali: That their Lord had been Well-acquainted with them, (even to) that Day? |
