بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّيْتُونِ
﴿۱﴾
Qarib: By the fig and the olive!
Sarwar: By the fig, by the olive, Shakir: I swear by the fig and the olive, Pickthall: By the fig and the olive, Yusufali: By the Fig and the Olive,
وَطُورِ سِينِينَ
﴿۲﴾
Qarib: and the Mount, Sinai,
Sarwar: by Mount Sinai Shakir: And mount Sinai, Pickthall: By Mount Sinai, Yusufali: And the Mount of Sinai,
وَهَذَا الْبَلَدِ الْأَمِينِ
﴿۳﴾
Qarib: and this safe country (Mecca)!
Sarwar: and by this inviolable city, Mecca. Shakir: And this city made secure, Pickthall: And by this land made safe; Yusufali: And this City of security,-
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْإِنْسَانَ فِي أَحْسَنِ تَقْوِيمٍ
﴿۴﴾
Qarib: Indeed, We created the human with the fairest stature
Sarwar: We have created the human being in the best form Shakir: Certainly We created man in the best make Pickthall: Surely We created man of the best stature Yusufali: We have indeed created man in the best of moulds,
ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَاهُ أَسْفَلَ سَافِلِينَ
﴿۵﴾
Qarib: and We shall return him to the lowest of the low,
Sarwar: and We shall make him the lowest of low Shakir: Then We render him the lowest of the low Pickthall: Then we reduced him to the lowest of the low, Yusufali: Then do We abase him (to be) the lowest of the low,-
إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَلَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: except the believers who do good works, for theirs shall be an unfailing recompense.
Sarwar: except the righteously striving believers who will have a never ending reward. Shakir: Except those who believe and do good, so they shall have a reward never to be cut off Pickthall: Save those who believe and do good works, and theirs is a reward unfailing. Yusufali: Except such as believe and do righteous deeds: For they shall have a reward unfailing.
فَمَا يُكَذِّبُكَ بَعْدُ بِالدِّينِ
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: So, what then shall belie you concerning the Recompense?
Sarwar: After (knowing) this, what makes you still disbelieve in the Day of Judgment? Shakir: Then who can give you the lie after (this) about the judgment? Pickthall: So who henceforth will give the lie to thee about the judgment? Yusufali: Then what can, after this, contradict thee, as to the judgment (to come)?
أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ بِأَحْكَمِ الْحَاكِمِينَ
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: Is Allah not the Most Just of judges!
Sarwar: Is God not the best of the Judges? Shakir: Is not Allah the best of the Judges? Pickthall: Is not Allah the most conclusive of all judges? Yusufali: Is not Allah the wisest of judges? |
