Sura 89: AL-FAJR (THE DAWN) - Juz' 30

Qarib: They were tyrants in the land
Sarwar: led rebellious lives,
Shakir: Who committed inordinacy in the cities,
Pickthall: Who (all) were rebellious (to Allah) in these lands,
Yusufali: (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,
Qarib: and exceeded in corruption therein.
Sarwar: and spread much corruption in the land.
Shakir: So they made great mischief therein?
Pickthall: And multiplied iniquity therein?
Yusufali: And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).
Qarib: (Therefore) your Lord let loose upon them a scourge of punishment;
Sarwar: Thus, your Lord afflicted them with torment;
Shakir: Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement
Pickthall: Therefore thy Lord poured on them the disaster of His punishment.
Yusufali: Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:
إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ ﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: indeed, your Lord is ever watchful.
Sarwar: your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people).
Shakir: Most sure!y your Lord is watching
Pickthall: Lo! thy Lord is ever watchful.
Yusufali: For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.
Qarib: As for man, when his Lord tests him by honoring him and favoring him, he says: 'My Lord, has honored me. '
Sarwar: As for the human being, when his Lord tests him, honors him, and grants him bounty, he says, "God has honored me".
Shakir: And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me
Pickthall: As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me.
Yusufali: Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."
Qarib: But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me. '
Sarwar: However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me".
Shakir: But when He tries him (differently), then straitens to him his means of subsistence, he says: My Lord has disgraced me
Pickthall: But whenever He trieth him by straitening his means of life, he saith: My Lord despiseth me.
Yusufali: But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"
Qarib: No! But you show no good to the orphan,
Sarwar: (Since wealth does not necessarily guarantee everlasting happiness) then why do you not show kindness to the orphans,
Shakir: Nay! but you do not honor the orphan,
Pickthall: Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan
Yusufali: Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!
Qarib: nor do you urge one another to feed the needy.
Sarwar: or urge one another to feed the destitute?
Shakir: Nor do you urge one another to feed the poor,
Pickthall: And urge not on the feeding of the poor.
Yusufali: Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-
Qarib: and you devour the inheritance with greed,
Sarwar: Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately
Shakir: And you eat away the heritage, devouring (everything) indiscriminately,
Pickthall: And ye devour heritages with devouring greed.
Yusufali: And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,
Qarib: and you ardently love wealth.
Sarwar: and why do you have an excessive love of riches?
Shakir: And you love wealth with exceeding love
Pickthall: And love wealth with abounding love.
Yusufali: And ye love wealth with inordinate love!
