كَلَّا إِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفِي سِجِّينٍ
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen.
Sarwar: Woe to them! Let them know that the records of the sinner's deeds are in Sijin. Shakir: Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin Pickthall: Nay, but the record of the vile is in Sijjin - Yusufali: Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin.
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سِجِّينٌ
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: What could let you know what the Sijjeen is!
Sarwar: Would that you knew what Sijin is!? Shakir: And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? Pickthall: Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - Yusufali: And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is?
كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌ
﴿۹﴾
Qarib: (It is) a marked Book.
Sarwar: It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). Shakir: It is a written book Pickthall: A written record. Yusufali: (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed.
وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ
﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: Woe on that Day to those who belied it,
Sarwar: Woe, on that day, to those who have rejected God's revelations Shakir: Woe on that day to the rejecters, Pickthall: Woe unto the repudiators on that day! Yusufali: Woe, that Day, to those that deny-
الَّذِينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: who belied the Day of Recompense!
Sarwar: and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. Shakir: Who give the lie to the day of judgment Pickthall: Those who deny the Day of Judgment Yusufali: Those that deny the Day of Judgment.
وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهِ إِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ أَثِيمٍ
﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: None belies it except every guilty sinner.
Sarwar: No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors Shakir: And none gives the lie to it but every exceeder of limits, sinful one Pickthall: Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, Yusufali: And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner!
إِذَا تُتْلَى عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا قَالَ أَسَاطِيرُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
﴿۱۳﴾
Qarib: When Our verses are recited to him, he says: 'Fictitious tales of the ancients! '
Sarwar: who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". Shakir: When Our communications are recited to him, he says: Stories of those of yore Pickthall: Who, when thou readest unto him Our revelations, saith: (Mere) fables of the men of old. Yusufali: When Our Signs are rehearsed to him, he says, "Tales of the ancients!"
كَلَّا بَلْ رَانَ عَلَى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ
﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts.
Sarwar: They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. Shakir: Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust . upon their hearts Pickthall: Nay, but that which they have earned is rust upon their hearts. Yusufali: By no means! but on their hearts is the stain of the (ill) which they do!
كَلَّا إِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَ
﴿۱۵﴾
Qarib: No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord.
Sarwar: On the Day of Judgment, they will certainly be barred from the mercy of their Lord. Shakir: Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord Pickthall: Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. Yusufali: Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled.
ثُمَّ إِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُو الْجَحِيمِ
﴿۱۶﴾
Qarib: Then they shall roast in Hell,
Sarwar: They will suffer the heat of fire Shakir: Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire Pickthall: Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, Yusufali: Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. |
