Qarib: When the sky is split,
Sarwar: When the heavens are rent asunder,
Shakir: When the heaven becomes cleft asunder,
Pickthall: When the heaven is cleft asunder,
Yusufali: When the Sky is cleft asunder;
Qarib: when the planets are scattered,
Sarwar: the stars are dispersed,
Shakir: And when the stars become dispersed,
Pickthall: When the planets are dispersed,
Yusufali: When the Stars are scattered;
Qarib: when the oceans are gushed forth,
Sarwar: the oceans are merged together,
Shakir: And when the seas are made to flow forth,
Pickthall: When the seas are poured forth,
Yusufali: When the Oceans are suffered to burst forth;
Qarib: when the graves are overturned,
Sarwar: and the graves are turned inside out,
Shakir: And when the graves are laid open,
Pickthall: And the sepulchres are overturned,
Yusufali: And when the Graves are turned upside down;-
Qarib: the soul shall know what it has done, the former and the latter.
Sarwar: every soul will see the result of its deeds - those recorded before his death and those which will produce either virtue or evil after his death.
Shakir: Every soul shall know what it has sent before and held back
Pickthall: A soul will know what it hath sent before (it) and what left behind.
Yusufali: (Then) shall each soul know what it hath sent forward and (what it hath) kept back.
Qarib: O human! What has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord
Sarwar: Human being, what evil has deceived you about your Gracious Lord,
Shakir: O man ! what has beguiled you from your Lord, the Gracious one,
Pickthall: O man! What hath made thee careless concerning thy Lord, the Bountiful,
Yusufali: O man! What has seduced thee from thy Lord Most Beneficent?-
Qarib: who created you, formed you and proportioned you?
Sarwar: Who created you proportionately and fashioned you
Shakir: Who created you, then made you complete, then made you symmetrical?
Pickthall: Who created thee, then fashioned, then proportioned thee?
Yusufali: Him Who created thee. Fashioned thee in due proportion, and gave thee a just bias;
Qarib: In whatever shape He will He could surely have fashioned you.
Sarwar: in whatever composition He wanted.
Shakir: Into whatever form He pleased He constituted you
Pickthall: Into whatsoever form He will, He casteth thee.
Yusufali: In whatever Form He wills, does He put thee together.
Qarib: Rather, you belied the Recompense.
Sarwar: Despite this, you deny the Day of Judgment,
Shakir: Nay! but you give the lie to the judgment day,
Pickthall: Nay, but ye deny the Judgment.
Yusufali: Nay! But ye do reject Right and Judgment!
Qarib: Yet over you there are watchers,
Sarwar: but you should know that there are angelic guards
Shakir: And most surely there are keepers over you
Pickthall: Lo! there are above you guardians,
Yusufali: But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,-
Qarib: noble scribes
Sarwar: watching over you
Shakir: Honorable recorders,
Pickthall: Generous and recording,
Yusufali: Kind and honourable,- Writing down (your deeds):
يَعْلَمُونَ مَا تَفْعَلُونَ ﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: who know of all that you do.
Sarwar: and these honorable scribes know whatever you do.
Shakir: They know what you do
Pickthall: Who know (all) that ye do.
Yusufali: They know (and understand) all that ye do.
Qarib: Indeed, the righteous shall (live) in bliss.
Sarwar: The virtuous ones will live in bliss
Shakir: Most surely the righteous are in bliss,
Pickthall: Lo! the righteous verily will be in delight.
Yusufali: As for the Righteous, they will be in bliss;
Qarib: But the wicked, indeed they shall be in the Fiery Furnace,
Sarwar: and the evil-doers will be in hell
Shakir: And most surely the wicked are in burning fire,
Pickthall: And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell;
Yusufali: And the Wicked - they will be in the Fire,
Qarib: roasting in it on the Day of Recompense
Sarwar: which they will enter on the Day of Judgment
Shakir: They shall enter it on the day of judgment
Pickthall: They will burn therein on the Day of Judgment,
Yusufali: Which they will enter on the Day of Judgment,
Qarib: and from it they shall never be absent.
Sarwar: to burn therein.
Shakir: And they shall by no means be absent from it
Pickthall: And will not be absent thence.
Yusufali: And they will not be able to keep away therefrom.
Qarib: What could let you know what the Day of Recompense is!
Sarwar: They will never be able to escape from it. Would that you knew what the Day of Judgment is!
Shakir: And what will make you realize what the day of judgement is?
Pickthall: Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Yusufali: And what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Qarib: Again, what could let you know what the Day of Recompense is!
Sarwar: Again would that you only knew how terrible it really is!
Shakir: Again, what will make you realize what the day of judgment Is?
Pickthall: Again, what will convey unto thee what the Day of Judgment is!
Yusufali: Again, what will explain to thee what the Day of Judgment is?
Qarib: It is the Day when no soul can do a thing for another soul. That Day, the command belongs to Allah.
Sarwar: On that day, no soul will be of any benefit to any other soul. On that day, all affairs will be in the hands of God.
Shakir: The day on which no soul shall control anything for (another) soul; and the command on that day shall be entirely Allah's
Pickthall: A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's.
Yusufali: (It will be) the Day when no soul shall have power (to do) aught for another: For the command, that Day, will be (wholly) with Allah.
