وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ
﴿۲۱﴾
Qarib: and are heedless of the Everlasting Life.
Sarwar: and neglect the life to come. Shakir: And neglect the hereafter Pickthall: And neglect the Hereafter. Yusufali: And leave alone the Hereafter.
وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ
﴿۲۲﴾
Qarib: On that Day there shall be radiant faces,
Sarwar: On the Day of Judgment some faces will be bright, Shakir: (Some) faces on that day shall be bright, Pickthall: That day will faces be resplendent, Yusufali: Some faces, that Day, will beam (in brightness and beauty);-
إِلَى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
﴿۲۳﴾
Qarib: gazing towards their Lord.
Sarwar: and look forward to receiving mercy from their Lord. Shakir: Looking to their Lord Pickthall: Looking toward their Lord; Yusufali: Looking towards their Lord;
وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ
﴿۲۴﴾
Qarib: And on that Day there shall be scowling faces,
Sarwar: Others will be despondent, Shakir: And (other) faces on that day shall be gloomy, Pickthall: And that day will other faces be despondent, Yusufali: And some faces, that Day, will be sad and dismal,
تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ
﴿۲۵﴾
Qarib: so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them.
Sarwar: certain of facing a great calamity. Shakir: Knowing that there will be made to befall them some great calamity Pickthall: Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. Yusufali: In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them;
كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ
﴿۲۶﴾
Qarib: But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone
Sarwar: Some people, certainly, do not believe in it, but when a person's soul reaches up to his throat Shakir: Nay! When it comes up to the throat, Pickthall: Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat Yusufali: Yea, when (the soul) reaches to the collar-bone (in its exit),
وَقِيلَ مَنْ رَاقٍ
﴿۲۷﴾
Qarib: and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter? '
Sarwar: and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, Shakir: And it is said: Who will be a magician? Pickthall: And men say: Where is the wizard (who can save him now)? Yusufali: And there will be a cry, "Who is a magician (to restore him)?"
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ
﴿۲۸﴾
Qarib: and when he thinks it is the time of departure
Sarwar: (the angels of mercy or the angels of wrath,)" then, he will realize that it is time to leave this world. Shakir: And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting Pickthall: And he knoweth that it is the parting; Yusufali: And he will conclude that it was (the Time) of Parting;
وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ
﴿۲۹﴾
Qarib: and when leg is intertwined with leg,
Sarwar: When legs are twisted around each other, Shakir: And affliction is combined with affliction; Pickthall: And agony is heaped on agony; Yusufali: And one leg will be joined with another:
إِلَى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ
﴿۳۰﴾
Qarib: upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord.
Sarwar: that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. Shakir: To your Lord on that day shall be the driving Pickthall: Unto thy Lord that day will be the driving. Yusufali: That Day the Drive will be (all) to thy Lord! |
