سوره 74: المدثر - جزء 29

وَمَا جَعَلْنَا أَصْحَابَ النَّارِ إِلَّا مَلَائِكَةً وَمَا جَعَلْنَا عِدَّتَهُمْ إِلَّا فِتْنَةً لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَيَزْدَادَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِيمَانًا وَلَا يَرْتَابَ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْكِتَابَ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ وَلِيَقُولَ الَّذِينَ فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ مَرَضٌ وَالْكَافِرُونَ مَاذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِهَذَا مَثَلًا كَذَلِكَ يُضِلُّ اللَّهُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيَهْدِي مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَمَا يَعْلَمُ جُنُودَ رَبِّكَ إِلَّا هُوَ وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿۳۱﴾
Qarib: We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example? ' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans.
Sarwar: We have made only angels as the keepers of the fire (for they are the strongest in carrying out Our commands). Our informing (people) of the numbers of these angels is a trial for the disbelievers. It gives more certainty to the people of the Book and strengthens the faith of the believers. The people of the Book and the believers have no doubt about it. We have fixed the number to make the disbelievers and those whose hearts are sick say, "What does God mean by such a parable?" Thus, God guides and causes to go astray whomever He wants. No one knows about the army of your Lord except He Himself. This parable is a reminder for mankind.
Shakir: And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals
Pickthall: We have appointed only angels to be wardens of the Fire, and their number have We made to be a stumbling-block for those who disbelieve; that those to whom the Scripture hath been given may have certainty, and that believers may increase in faith; and that those to whom the Scripture hath been given and believers may not doubt; and that those in whose hearts there is disease, and disbelievers, may say: What meaneth Allah by this similitude? Thus Allah sendeth astray whom He will, and whom He will He guideth. None knoweth the hosts of thy Lord save Him. This is naught else than a Reminder unto mortals.
Yusufali: And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind.
كَلَّا وَالْقَمَرِ ﴿۳۲﴾
Qarib: No, by the moon!
Sarwar: By the moon,
Shakir: Nay; I swear by the moon,
Pickthall: Nay, by the Moon
Yusufali: Nay, verily: By the Moon,
وَاللَّيْلِ إِذْ أَدْبَرَ ﴿۳۳﴾
Qarib: By the receding night
Sarwar: by the retreating night,
Shakir: And the night when it departs,
Pickthall: And the night when it withdraweth
Yusufali: And by the Night as it retreateth,
وَالصُّبْحِ إِذَا أَسْفَرَ ﴿۳۴﴾
Qarib: and the morning when it appears,
Sarwar: by the brightening dawn,
Shakir: And the daybreak when it shines;
Pickthall: And the dawn when it shineth forth,
Yusufali: And by the Dawn as it shineth forth,-
إِنَّهَا لَإِحْدَى الْكُبَرِ ﴿۳۵﴾
Qarib: it is one of the greatest trials,
Sarwar: hell is certainly the greatest calamity.
Shakir: Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes),
Pickthall: Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents)
Yusufali: This is but one of the mighty (portents),
نَذِيرًا لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿۳۶﴾
Qarib: a warning to humans,
Sarwar: It is a warning for mankind
Shakir: A warning to mortals,
Pickthall: As a warning unto men,
Yusufali: A warning to mankind,-
لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ ﴿۳۷﴾
Qarib: to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind.
Sarwar: whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it.
Shakir: To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind
Pickthall: Unto him of you who will advance or hang back.
Yusufali: To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;-
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ ﴿۳۸﴾
Qarib: Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns,
Sarwar: Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds
Shakir: Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns,
Pickthall: Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds;
Yusufali: Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds.
إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ ﴿۳۹﴾
Qarib: except the Companions of the Right.
Sarwar: except the people of the right hand
Shakir: Except the people of the right hand,
Pickthall: Save those who will stand on the right hand.
Yusufali: Except the Companions of the Right Hand.
فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ ﴿۴۰﴾
Qarib: In Gardens they will question
Sarwar: who will be in Paradise
Shakir: In gardens, they shall ask each other
Pickthall: In gardens they will ask one another
Yusufali: (They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other,
