سوره 74: المدثر - جزء 29

ثُمَّ نَظَرَ ﴿۲۱﴾
Qarib: Then he looked,
Sarwar: May he be condemned again for his schemes! He looked around,
Shakir: Then he looked,
Pickthall: Then looked he,
Yusufali: Then he looked round;
ثُمَّ عَبَسَ وَبَسَرَ ﴿۲۲﴾
Qarib: frowned and scowled;
Sarwar: frowned and scowled,
Shakir: Then he frowned and scowled,
Pickthall: Then frowned he and showed displeasure.
Yusufali: Then he frowned and he scowled;
ثُمَّ أَدْبَرَ وَاسْتَكْبَرَ ﴿۲۳﴾
Qarib: then he retreated and grew proud
Sarwar: then turned back, and swelling-up with pride,
Shakir: Then he turned back and was big with pride,
Pickthall: Then turned he away in pride
Yusufali: Then he turned back and was haughty;
فَقَالَ إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا سِحْرٌ يُؤْثَرُ ﴿۲۴﴾
Qarib: and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery;
Sarwar: said, "This (the Quran) is nothing but magic, inherited from ancient magicians.
Shakir: ~Then he said: This is naught but enchantment, narrated (from others);
Pickthall: And said: This is naught else than magic from of old;
Yusufali: Then said he: "This is nothing but magic, derived from of old;
إِنْ هَذَا إِلَّا قَوْلُ الْبَشَرِ ﴿۲۵﴾
Qarib: It is nothing but the word of a mortal! '
Sarwar: These are only words from a mere mortal".
Shakir: This is naught but the word of a mortal
Pickthall: This is naught else than speech of mortal man.
Yusufali: "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!"
سَأُصْلِيهِ سَقَرَ ﴿۲۶﴾
Qarib: I will surely roast him in the Scorching.
Sarwar: I shall make him suffer the torment of hell.
Shakir: I will cast him into hell
Pickthall: Him shall I fling unto the burning.
Yusufali: Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire!
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا سَقَرُ ﴿۲۷﴾
Qarib: What will let you know what the Scorching is like!
Sarwar: Would that you really knew what hell is!
Shakir: And what will make you realize what hell is?
Pickthall: - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! -
Yusufali: And what will explain to thee what Hell-Fire is?
لَا تُبْقِي وَلَا تَذَرُ ﴿۲۸﴾
Qarib: It neither spares, nor releases,
Sarwar: It leaves and spares no one and nothing.
Shakir: It leaves naught nor does it spare aught
Pickthall: It leaveth naught; it spareth naught
Yusufali: Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!-
لَوَّاحَةٌ لِلْبَشَرِ ﴿۲۹﴾
Qarib: and it burns the flesh.
Sarwar: It scorches people's skin
Shakir: It scorches the mortal
Pickthall: It shrivelleth the man.
Yusufali: Darkening and changing the colour of man!
عَلَيْهَا تِسْعَةَ عَشَرَ ﴿۳۰﴾
Qarib: Over it are nineteen (angels guarding).
Sarwar: and it has nineteen angelic keepers.
Shakir: Over it are nineteen
Pickthall: Above it are nineteen.
Yusufali: Over it are Nineteen.
