Sarwar: Cloaked one,
Shakir: O you who are clothed!
Pickthall: O thou enveloped in thy cloak,
Yusufali: O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)!
قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ ﴿۲﴾

Sarwar: stand up, deliver your warning,
Shakir: Arise and warn,
Pickthall: Arise and warn!
Yusufali: Arise and deliver thy warning!
وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ ﴿۳﴾
Qarib: and exalt your Lord,
Sarwar: proclaim the greatness of your Lord,
Shakir: And your Lord do magnify,
Pickthall: Thy Lord magnify,
Yusufali: And thy Lord do thou magnify!
وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ ﴿۴﴾
Qarib: and purify your clothing,
Sarwar: cleanse your clothes,
Shakir: And your garments do purify,
Pickthall: Thy raiment purify,
Yusufali: And thy garments keep free from stain!
وَالرُّجْزَ فَاهْجُرْ ﴿۵﴾
Qarib: and flee from the statues!
Sarwar: stay away from sins

Pickthall: Pollution shun!
Yusufali: And all abomination shun!
وَلَا تَمْنُنْ تَسْتَكْثِرُ ﴿۶﴾
Qarib: Do not give, thinking to gain greater
Sarwar: and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God.
Shakir: And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase,
Pickthall: And show not favour, seeking wordly gain!
Yusufali: Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)!
وَلِرَبِّكَ فَاصْبِرْ ﴿۷﴾
Qarib: be patient unto your Lord.
Sarwar: Exercise patience to please your Lord.
Shakir: And for the sake of your Lord, be patient
Pickthall: For the sake of thy Lord, be patient!
Yusufali: But, for thy Lord's (Cause), be patient and constant!
فَإِذَا نُقِرَ فِي النَّاقُورِ ﴿۸﴾
Qarib: When the Horn is blown,
Sarwar: When the trumpet is sounded,.
Shakir: For when the trumpet is sounded,
Pickthall: For when the trumpet shall sound,
Yusufali: Finally, when the Trumpet is sounded,
فَذَلِكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَوْمٌ عَسِيرٌ ﴿۹﴾
Qarib: that shall be a Harsh Day
Sarwar: it will be a hard day
Shakir: That, at that time, shall be a difficult day,
Pickthall: Surely that day will be a day of anguish,
Yusufali: That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,-
عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ غَيْرُ يَسِيرٍ ﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: and it will not be easy for the unbelievers.
Sarwar: and for the disbelievers, in particular, it will not be at all easy.
Shakir: For the unbelievers, anything but easy
Pickthall: Not of ease, for disbelievers.
Yusufali: Far from easy for those without Faith.
