سوره 56: الواقعة - جزء 27

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
به نام خداوند رحمتگر مهربان
إِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿۱﴾
Qarib: When the Event (the resurrection) comes
Sarwar: When the inevitable event comes,
Shakir: When the great event comes to pass,
Pickthall: When the event befalleth -
Yusufali: When the Event inevitable cometh to pass,
لَيْسَ لِوَقْعَتِهَا كَاذِبَةٌ ﴿۲﴾
Qarib: there is no denying its coming
Sarwar: no soul will deny its coming.
Shakir: There is no belying its coming to pass--
Pickthall: There is no denying that it will befall -
Yusufali: Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming.
خَافِضَةٌ رَافِعَةٌ ﴿۳﴾
Qarib: (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others).
Sarwar: It will abase some and exalt others.
Shakir: Abasing (one party), exalting (the other),
Pickthall: Abasing (some), exalting (others);
Yusufali: (Many) will it bring low; (many) will it exalt;
إِذَا رُجَّتِ الْأَرْضُ رَجًّا ﴿۴﴾
Qarib: When the earth is shaken
Sarwar: When the earth is violently shaken
Shakir: When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking,
Pickthall: When the earth is shaken with a shock
Yusufali: When the earth shall be shaken to its depths,
وَبُسَّتِ الْجِبَالُ بَسًّا ﴿۵﴾
Qarib: and the mountains fragmented
Sarwar: and the mountains crumbled,
Shakir: And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling,
Pickthall: And the hills are ground to powder
Yusufali: And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms,
فَكَانَتْ هَبَاءً مُنْبَثًّا ﴿۶﴾
Qarib: becoming scattered dust,
Sarwar: they will become like dust scattered around.
Shakir: So that they shall be as scattered dust
Pickthall: So that they become a scattered dust,
Yusufali: Becoming dust scattered abroad,
وَكُنْتُمْ أَزْوَاجًا ثَلَاثَةً ﴿۷﴾
Qarib: you shall be divided into three parties,
Sarwar: On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups:
Shakir: And you shall be three sorts
Pickthall: And ye will be three kinds:
Yusufali: And ye shall be sorted out into three classes.
فَأَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَيْمَنَةِ ﴿۸﴾
Qarib: Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right?
Sarwar: The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be!
Shakir: Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand!
Pickthall: (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand?
Yusufali: Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand?
وَأَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْمَشْأَمَةِ ﴿۹﴾
Qarib: Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left?
Sarwar: The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be!
Shakir: And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand!
Pickthall: And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand?
Yusufali: And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?
وَالسَّابِقُونَ السَّابِقُونَ ﴿۱۰﴾
Qarib: And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers
Sarwar: The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward.
Shakir: And the foremost are the foremost,
Pickthall: And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race:
Yusufali: And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter).
أُولَئِكَ الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿۱۱﴾
Qarib: those are they brought near (to their Lord)
Sarwar: (The foremost ones) will be the nearest ones to God
Shakir: These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah),
Pickthall: Those are they who will be brought nigh
Yusufali: These will be those Nearest to Allah:
فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ ﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: in the Gardens of Delight,
Sarwar: in the beautiful Paradise.
Shakir: In the gardens of bliss
Pickthall: In gardens of delight;
Yusufali: In Gardens of Bliss:
ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿۱۳﴾
Qarib: a host of the ancients
Sarwar: Many of them will be from the ancient people
Shakir: A numerous company from among the first,
Pickthall: A multitude of those of old
Yusufali: A number of people from those of old,
وَقَلِيلٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴿۱۴﴾
Qarib: but only a few from the later generations.
Sarwar: and only a few of them from the later generations.
Shakir: And a few from among the latter
Pickthall: And a few of those of later time.
Yusufali: And a few from those of later times.
عَلَى سُرُرٍ مَوْضُونَةٍ ﴿۱۵﴾
Qarib: on lavish couches
Sarwar: They will recline on jewelled couches
Shakir: On thrones decorated,
Pickthall: On lined couches,
Yusufali: (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones),
مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَيْهَا مُتَقَابِلِينَ ﴿۱۶﴾
Qarib: they shall recline, facing each other,
Sarwar: facing one another.
Shakir: Reclining on them, facing one another
Pickthall: Reclining therein face to face.
Yusufali: Reclining on them, facing each other.
يَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُخَلَّدُونَ ﴿۱۷﴾
Qarib: (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths
Sarwar: Immortal youths will serve them
Shakir: Round about them shall go youths never altering in age,
Pickthall: There wait on them immortal youths
Yusufali: Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness),
بِأَكْوَابٍ وَأَبَارِيقَ وَكَأْسٍ مِنْ مَعِينٍ ﴿۱۸﴾
Qarib: with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring
Sarwar: with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine
Shakir: With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink;
Pickthall: With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring
Yusufali: With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains:
لَا يُصَدَّعُونَ عَنْهَا وَلَا يُنْزِفُونَ ﴿۱۹﴾
Qarib: that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate,
Sarwar: which will not cause them any intoxication or illness.
Shakir: They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted,
Pickthall: Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness,
Yusufali: No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication:
وَفَاكِهَةٍ مِمَّا يَتَخَيَّرُونَ ﴿۲۰﴾
Qarib: with fruits of their own choice
Sarwar: Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice
Shakir: And fruits such as they choose,
Pickthall: And fruit that they prefer
Yusufali: And with fruits, any that they may select:
وَلَحْمِ طَيْرٍ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿۲۱﴾
Qarib: and any flesh of fowl that they desire.
Sarwar: and the flesh of birds, as they desire.
Shakir: And the flesh of fowl such as they desire
Pickthall: And flesh of fowls that they desire.
Yusufali: And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire.
وَحُورٌ عِينٌ ﴿۲۲﴾
Qarib: And wideeyed houris
Sarwar: They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes,
Shakir: And pure, beautiful ones,
Pickthall: And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes,
Yusufali: And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,-
كَأَمْثَالِ اللُّؤْلُؤِ الْمَكْنُونِ ﴿۲۳﴾
Qarib: like hidden pearls,
Sarwar: like pearls preserved in their shells,
Shakir: The like of the hidden pearls:
Pickthall: Like unto hidden pearls,
Yusufali: Like unto Pearls well-guarded.
جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ ﴿۲۴﴾
Qarib: a recompense for all that they did.
Sarwar: as reward for their deeds.
Shakir: A reward for what they used to do
Pickthall: Reward for what they used to do.
Yusufali: A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).
لَا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْوًا وَلَا تَأْثِيمًا ﴿۲۵﴾
Qarib: There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin,
Sarwar: They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk
Shakir: They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse,
Pickthall: There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination
Yusufali: Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,-
إِلَّا قِيلًا سَلَامًا سَلَامًا ﴿۲۶﴾
Qarib: but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace! '
Sarwar: except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you".
Shakir: Except the word peace, peace
Pickthall: (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace.
Yusufali: Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".
وَأَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الْيَمِينِ ﴿۲۷﴾
Qarib: The Companions of the Right
Sarwar: As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be!
Shakir: And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand!
Pickthall: And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand?
Yusufali: The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand?
فِي سِدْرٍ مَخْضُودٍ ﴿۲۸﴾
Qarib: (will be) among thornless Lote trees.
Sarwar: They will live amid the thornless lot trees
Shakir: Amid thornless lote-trees,
Pickthall: Among thornless lote-trees
Yusufali: (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns,
وَطَلْحٍ مَنْضُودٍ ﴿۲۹﴾
Qarib: Bananatrees, piled
Sarwar: and banana trees,
Shakir: And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another
Pickthall: And clustered plantains,
Yusufali: Among Talh trees with flowers (or fruits) piled one above another,-
وَظِلٍّ مَمْدُودٍ ﴿۳۰﴾
Qarib: and continuous shade,
Sarwar: with fruits piled up one on the other,
Shakir: And extended shade,
Pickthall: And spreading shade,
Yusufali: In shade long-extended,
وَمَاءٍ مَسْكُوبٍ ﴿۳۱﴾
Qarib: and flowing water
Sarwar: and amid the extended shade
Shakir: And water flowing constantly,
Pickthall: And water gushing,
Yusufali: By water flowing constantly,
وَفَاكِهَةٍ كَثِيرَةٍ ﴿۳۲﴾
Qarib: and an abundance of fruits,
Sarwar: near to flowing water
Shakir: And abundant fruit,
Pickthall: And fruit in plenty
Yusufali: And fruit in abundance.
لَا مَقْطُوعَةٍ وَلَا مَمْنُوعَةٍ ﴿۳۳﴾
Qarib: unfailing and not forbidden.
Sarwar: and abundant fruits,
Shakir: Neither intercepted nor forbidden,
Pickthall: Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden,
Yusufali: Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden,
وَفُرُشٍ مَرْفُوعَةٍ ﴿۳۴﴾
Qarib: And couches raised up.
Sarwar: undiminished and never denied
Shakir: And exalted thrones
Pickthall: And raised couches;
Yusufali: And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high.
إِنَّا أَنْشَأْنَاهُنَّ إِنْشَاءً ﴿۳۵﴾
Qarib: Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women),
Sarwar: and the noble maidens
Shakir: Surely We have made them to grow into a (new) growth,
Pickthall: Lo! We have created them a (new) creation
Yusufali: We have created (their Companions) of special creation.
فَجَعَلْنَاهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا ﴿۳۶﴾
Qarib: and made them virgins,
Sarwar: that We have created (for the people of the right hand).
Shakir: Then We have made them virgins,
Pickthall: And made them virgins,
Yusufali: And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), -
عُرُبًا أَتْرَابًا ﴿۳۷﴾
Qarib: chaste, loving companions of the same age
Sarwar: We have made them virgins,
Shakir: Loving, equals in age,
Pickthall: Lovers, friends,
Yusufali: Beloved (by nature), equal in age,-
لِأَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿۳۸﴾
Qarib: for the Companions of the Right
Sarwar: loving and of equal age.
Shakir: For the sake of the companions of the right hand
Pickthall: For those on the right hand;
Yusufali: For the Companions of the Right Hand.
ثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿۳۹﴾
Qarib: a multitude of the ancients,
Sarwar: These (people of the right hand) consist of many from the ancient
Shakir: A numerous company from among the first,
Pickthall: A multitude of those of old
Yusufali: A (goodly) number from those of old,
وَثُلَّةٌ مِنَ الْآخِرِينَ ﴿۴۰﴾
Qarib: and a multitude of the later people.
Sarwar: and many from the later generations.
Shakir: And a numerous company from among the last
Pickthall: And a multitude of those of later time.
Yusufali: And a (goodly) number from those of later times.
وَأَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ مَا أَصْحَابُ الشِّمَالِ ﴿۴۱﴾
Qarib: As for the Companions of the Left
Sarwar: As for the people on the left hand, how miserable they will be!
Shakir: And those of the left hand, how wretched are those of the left hand!
Pickthall: And those on the left hand: What of those on the left hand?
Yusufali: The Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand?
فِي سَمُومٍ وَحَمِيمٍ ﴿۴۲﴾
Qarib: (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water,
Sarwar: They will live amid the scorching,
Shakir: In hot wind and boiling water,
Pickthall: In scorching wind and scalding water
Yusufali: (They will be) in the midst of a Fierce Blast of Fire and in Boiling Water,
وَظِلٍّ مِنْ يَحْمُومٍ ﴿۴۳﴾
Qarib: in the shadow of a smoking blaze,
Sarwar: scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke,
Shakir: And the shade of black smoke,
Pickthall: And shadow of black smoke,
Yusufali: And in the shades of Black Smoke:
لَا بَارِدٍ وَلَا كَرِيمٍ ﴿۴۴﴾
Qarib: neither cool nor good.
Sarwar: neither cold nor graceful in shape.
Shakir: Neither cool nor honorable
Pickthall: Neither cool nor refreshing.
Yusufali: Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please:
إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا قَبْلَ ذَلِكَ مُتْرَفِينَ ﴿۴۵﴾
Qarib: Before they lived at ease,
Sarwar: They had lived in luxury before this
Shakir: Surely they were before that made to live in ease and plenty
Pickthall: Lo! heretofore they were effete with luxury
Yusufali: For that they were wont to be indulged, before that, in wealth (and luxury),
وَكَانُوا يُصِرُّونَ عَلَى الْحِنْثِ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿۴۶﴾
Qarib: and persisted in the great sin
Sarwar: and persisted in heinous sins.
Shakir: And they persisted in the great violation
Pickthall: And used to persist in the awful sin.
Yusufali: And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme!
وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَامًا أَإِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ﴿۴۷﴾
Qarib: and constantly said: 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be restored to life?
Sarwar: It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones?
Shakir: And they used to say: What! when we die and have become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised?
Pickthall: And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again,
Yusufali: And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?-
أَوَآبَاؤُنَا الْأَوَّلُونَ ﴿۴۸﴾
Qarib: What, and our fathers, the ancients? '
Sarwar: Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too?
Shakir: Or our fathers of yore?
Pickthall: And also our forefathers?
Yusufali: "(We) and our fathers of old?"
قُلْ إِنَّ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ ﴿۴۹﴾
Qarib: Say: 'Those of ancient times and those of later times
Sarwar: (Muhammad), say, "All the ancient and later generations
Shakir: Say: The first and the last,
Pickthall: Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time
Yusufali: Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times,
لَمَجْمُوعُونَ إِلَى مِيقَاتِ يَوْمٍ مَعْلُومٍ ﴿۵۰﴾
Qarib: shall be gathered together to the appointed time on a known Day. '
Sarwar: will be brought together for an appointment on an appointed day.
Shakir: Shall most surely be gathered together for the appointed hour of a known day
Pickthall: Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day.
Yusufali: "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known.
ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا الضَّالُّونَ الْمُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿۵۱﴾
Qarib: Then you went astray, you that belied,
Sarwar: Then you people who had gone astray and rejected the Truth
Shakir: Then shall you, O you who err and call it a lie!
Pickthall: Then lo! ye, the erring, the deniers,
Yusufali: "Then will ye truly,- O ye that go wrong, and treat (Truth) as Falsehood!-
لَآكِلُونَ مِنْ شَجَرٍ مِنْ زَقُّومٍ ﴿۵۲﴾
Qarib: you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum.
Sarwar: will eat from the fruit of the tree of Zaqqum,
Shakir: Most surely eat of a tree of Zaqqoom,
Pickthall: Ye verily will eat of a tree called Zaqqum
Yusufali: "Ye will surely taste of the Tree of Zaqqum.
فَمَالِئُونَ مِنْهَا الْبُطُونَ ﴿۵۳﴾
Qarib: You shall fill your bellies with it,
Sarwar: filling your bellies, with it
Shakir: And fill (your) bellies with it;
Pickthall: And will fill your bellies therewith;
Yusufali: "Then will ye fill your insides therewith,
فَشَارِبُونَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْحَمِيمِ ﴿۵۴﴾
Qarib: and drink boiling water on top of that,
Sarwar: and on top of this you will drink boiling water
Shakir: Then drink over it of boiling water;
Pickthall: And thereon ye will drink of boiling water,
Yusufali: "And drink Boiling Water on top of it:
فَشَارِبُونَ شُرْبَ الْهِيمِ ﴿۵۵﴾
Qarib: and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels.
Sarwar: like a thirsty camel".
Shakir: And drink as drinks the thirsty camel
Pickthall: Drinking even as the camel drinketh.
Yusufali: "Indeed ye shall drink like diseased camels raging with thirst!"
هَذَا نُزُلُهُمْ يَوْمَ الدِّينِ ﴿۵۶﴾
Qarib: Such shall be your hospitality on the Day of Recompense.
Sarwar: Such will be their dwelling on the Day of Judgment.
Shakir: This is their entertainment on the day of requital
Pickthall: This will be their welcome on the Day of Judgment.
Yusufali: Such will be their entertainment on the Day of Requital!
نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاكُمْ فَلَوْلَا تُصَدِّقُونَ ﴿۵۷﴾
Qarib: We created you, why will you not believe!
Sarwar: It is We who have created you. Why then did you not testify to the Truth?
Shakir: We have created you, why do you not then assent?
Pickthall: We created you. Will ye then admit the truth?
Yusufali: It is We Who have created you: why will ye not witness the Truth?
أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تُمْنُونَ ﴿۵۸﴾
Qarib: Have you thought about what (sperm) you ejaculate?
Sarwar: Have you seen sperm?
Shakir: Have you considered the seed?
Pickthall: Have ye seen that which ye emit?
Yusufali: Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,-
أَأَنْتُمْ تَخْلُقُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْخَالِقُونَ ﴿۵۹﴾
Qarib: Did you create it, or are We the Creator?
Sarwar: Did you create it or was it We who created it?
Shakir: Is it you that create it or are We the creators?
Pickthall: Do ye create it or are We the Creator?
Yusufali: Is it ye who create it, or are We the Creators?
نَحْنُ قَدَّرْنَا بَيْنَكُمُ الْمَوْتَ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَ ﴿۶۰﴾
Qarib: It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed
Sarwar: We have destined death for you and no one can challenge Us
Shakir: We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome,
Pickthall: We mete out death among you, and We are not to be outrun,
Yusufali: We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated
عَلَى أَنْ نُبَدِّلَ أَمْثَالَكُمْ وَنُنْشِئَكُمْ فِي مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿۶۱﴾
Qarib: that We will change you and cause you to grow again in a way you do not know.
Sarwar: in replacing you with another creation like you, changing you into a form which you do not know.
Shakir: In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not
Pickthall: That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not.
Yusufali: from changing your Forms and creating you (again) in (forms) that ye know not.
وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْتُمُ النَّشْأَةَ الْأُولَى فَلَوْلَا تَذَكَّرُونَ ﴿۶۲﴾
Qarib: You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember!
Sarwar: You certainly knew about (your) first development. Why do you not take heed?
Shakir: And certainly you know the first growth, why do you not then mind?
Pickthall: And verily ye know the first creation. Why, then, do ye not reflect?
Yusufali: And ye certainly know already the first form of creation: why then do ye not celebrate His praises?
أَفَرَأَيْتُمْ مَا تَحْرُثُونَ ﴿۶۳﴾
Qarib: Ponder upon the soil you till,
Sarwar: Have you seen what you sow?
Shakir: Have you considered what you sow?
Pickthall: Have ye seen that which ye cultivate?
Yusufali: See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground?
أَأَنْتُمْ تَزْرَعُونَهُ أَمْ نَحْنُ الزَّارِعُونَ ﴿۶۴﴾
Qarib: is it you that sow it, or are We the Sower?
Sarwar: Do you make it grow or is it We who make it grow?
Shakir: Is it you that cause it to grow, or are We the causers of growth?
Pickthall: Is it ye who foster it, or are We the Fosterer?
Yusufali: Is it ye that cause it to grow, or are We the Cause?
لَوْ نَشَاءُ لَجَعَلْنَاهُ حُطَامًا فَظَلْتُمْ تَفَكَّهُونَ ﴿۶۵﴾
Qarib: If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering,
Sarwar: Had We wanted, We could have crushed it to bits and you would have been left to lament,
Shakir: If We pleased, We should have certainly made it broken down into pieces, then would you begin tb lament:
Pickthall: If We willed, We verily could make it chaff, then would ye cease not to exclaim:
Yusufali: Were it Our Will, We could crumble it to dry powder, and ye would be left in wonderment,
إِنَّا لَمُغْرَمُونَ ﴿۶۶﴾
Qarib: (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts!
Sarwar: crying, "We have been left to suffer loss.
Shakir: Surely we are burdened with debt:
Pickthall: Lo! we are laden with debt!
Yusufali: (Saying), "We are indeed left with debts (for nothing):
بَلْ نَحْنُ مَحْرُومُونَ ﴿۶۷﴾
Qarib: Rather, we have been prevented! '
Sarwar: Surely, we have been deprived (of the benefits)".
Shakir: Nay! we are deprived
Pickthall: Nay, but we are deprived!
Yusufali: "Indeed are we shut out (of the fruits of our labour)"
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ ﴿۶۸﴾
Qarib: Have you thought about the water you drink?
Sarwar: Have you seen the water which you drink?
Shakir: Have you considered the water which you drink?
Pickthall: Have ye observed the water which ye drink?
Yusufali: See ye the water which ye drink?
أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ ﴿۶۹﴾
Qarib: Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We?
Sarwar: Is it you who sent it down from the clouds or is it We who have sent it down?
Shakir: Is it you that send it down from the clouds, or are We the senders?
Pickthall: Is it ye who shed it from the raincloud, or are We the Shedder?
Yusufali: Do ye bring it down (in rain) from the cloud or do We?
لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ ﴿۷۰﴾
Qarib: If We will, We would make it bitter, why then do you not give thanks?
Sarwar: Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks?
Shakir: If We pleased, We would have made it salty; why do you not then give thanks?
Pickthall: If We willed We verily could make it bitter. Why then, give ye not thanks?
Yusufali: Were it Our Will, We could make it salt (and unpalatable): then why do ye not give thanks?
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ النَّارَ الَّتِي تُورُونَ ﴿۷۱﴾
Qarib: Have you thought about the fire you kindle?
Sarwar: Have you seen the fire which you kindle?
Shakir: Have you considered the fire which you strike?
Pickthall: Have ye observed the fire which ye strike out;
Yusufali: See ye the Fire which ye kindle?
أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْشَأْتُمْ شَجَرَتَهَا أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْشِئُونَ ﴿۷۲﴾
Qarib: Is it you that originated its tree, or are We the Originator?
Sarwar: Is it you who have produced its tree or is it We who have produced it?
Shakir: Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers?
Pickthall: Was it ye who made the tree thereof to grow, or were We the grower?
Yusufali: Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it?
نَحْنُ جَعَلْنَاهَا تَذْكِرَةً وَمَتَاعًا لِلْمُقْوِينَ ﴿۷۳﴾
Qarib: We have made it a reminder, and a blessing to the traveler.
Sarwar: It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people.
Shakir: We have made it a reminder and an advantage for the wayfarers of the desert
Pickthall: We, even We, appointed it a memorial and a comfort for the dwellers in the wilderness.
Yusufali: We have made it a memorial (of Our handiwork), and an article of comfort and convenience for the denizens of deserts.
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿۷۴﴾
Qarib: Then, exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great.
Sarwar: (Muhammad), glorify your Lord, the Great One.
Shakir: Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great
Pickthall: Therefor (O Muhammad), praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.
Yusufali: Then celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme!
فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِمَوَاقِعِ النُّجُومِ ﴿۷۵﴾
Qarib: I swear by the fallings of the stars
Sarwar: I do not need to swear by the setting of the stars
Shakir: But nay! I swear by the falling of stars;
Pickthall: Nay, I swear by the places of the stars -
Yusufali: Furthermore I call to witness the setting of the Stars,-
وَإِنَّهُ لَقَسَمٌ لَوْ تَعْلَمُونَ عَظِيمٌ ﴿۷۶﴾
Qarib: and that is a mighty oath, if you but knew
Sarwar: - which is indeed a great oath if only you knew it -
Shakir: And most surely it is a very great oath if you only knew;
Pickthall: And lo! that verily is a tremendous oath, if ye but knew -
Yusufali: And that is indeed a mighty adjuration if ye but knew,-
إِنَّهُ لَقُرْآنٌ كَرِيمٌ ﴿۷۷﴾
Qarib: it is indeed a Glorious Koran,
Sarwar: that this is an honorable Quran
Shakir: Most surely it is an honored Quran,
Pickthall: That (this) is indeed a noble Qur'an
Yusufali: That this is indeed a qur'an Most Honourable,
فِي كِتَابٍ مَكْنُونٍ ﴿۷۸﴾
Qarib: in a Book protected (from tampering)
Sarwar: preserved in a hidden Book which
Shakir: In a book that is protected
Pickthall: In a Book kept hidden
Yusufali: In Book well-guarded,
لَا يَمَسُّهُ إِلَّا الْمُطَهَّرُونَ ﴿۷۹﴾
Qarib: which none shall touch except the purified;
Sarwar: no one can touch it except the purified ones.
Shakir: None shall touch it save the purified ones
Pickthall: Which none toucheth save the purified,
Yusufali: Which none shall touch but those who are clean:
تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ﴿۸۰﴾
Qarib: a sending down from the Lord of all the Worlds.
Sarwar: (This Quran) is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe.
Shakir: A revelation by the Lord of the worlds
Pickthall: A revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
Yusufali: A Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds.
أَفَبِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَنْتُمْ مُدْهِنُونَ ﴿۸۱﴾
Qarib: What, do you hold this discourse in disdain,
Sarwar: Would you say that this statement is a lie?
Shakir: Do you then hold this announcement in contempt?
Pickthall: Is it this Statement that ye scorn,
Yusufali: Is it such a Message that ye would hold in light esteem?
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﴿۸۲﴾
Qarib: do you make it your provision to belie it?
Sarwar: Would you reject the sustenance that you receive rather than give thanks?
Shakir: And to give (it) the lie you make your means of subsistence
Pickthall: And make denial thereof your livelihood?
Yusufali: And have ye made it your livelihood that ye should declare it false?
فَلَوْلَا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ الْحُلْقُومَ ﴿۸۳﴾
Qarib: Why, then, when the soul leaps up to the throat of the dying
Sarwar: Why can you not help a soul dying
Shakir: Why is it not then that when it (soul) comes up to the throat,
Pickthall: Why, then, when (the soul) cometh up to the throat (of the dying)
Yusufali: Then why do ye not (intervene) when (the soul of the dying man) reaches the throat,-
وَأَنْتُمْ حِينَئِذٍ تَنْظُرُونَ ﴿۸۴﴾
Qarib: and you are watching at that time
Sarwar: right before your very eyes?
Shakir: And you at that time look on--
Pickthall: And ye are at that moment looking
Yusufali: And ye the while (sit) looking on,-
وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْكُمْ وَلَكِنْ لَا تُبْصِرُونَ ﴿۸۵﴾
Qarib: We are nearer to him than you, but you do not see
Sarwar: We are closer to him than you, but you cannot see.
Shakir: And We are nearer to it than you, but you do not see--
Pickthall: - And We are nearer unto him than ye are, but ye see not -
Yusufali: But We are nearer to him than ye, and yet see not,-
فَلَوْلَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ غَيْرَ مَدِينِينَ ﴿۸۶﴾
Qarib: why then, if you are not revived,
Sarwar: If you are true to your claim that there is no Day of Judgment,
Shakir: Then why is it not-- if you are not held under authority--
Pickthall: Why then, if ye are not in bondage (unto Us),
Yusufali: Then why do ye not,- If you are exempt from (future) account,-
تَرْجِعُونَهَا إِنْ كُنْتُمْ صَادِقِينَ ﴿۸۷﴾
Qarib: do you not restore his soul, if you are truthful?
Sarwar: why can you not bring it (the soul) back (to life)?
Shakir: That you send it (not) back-- if you are truthful?
Pickthall: Do ye not force it back, if ye are truthful?
Yusufali: Call back the soul, if ye are true (in the claim of independence)?
فَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ ﴿۸۸﴾
Qarib: If he is among the near
Sarwar: (If a dying soul) is of those near to God,
Shakir: Then if he is one of those drawn nigh (to Allah),
Pickthall: Thus if he is of those brought nigh,
Yusufali: Thus, then, if he be of those Nearest to Allah,
فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ ﴿۸۹﴾
Qarib: there shall be calmness and ease, a Garden of Delight.
Sarwar: it will have rest, happiness, and a beautiful Paradise.
Shakir: Then happiness and bounty and a garden of bliss
Pickthall: Then breath of life, and plenty, and a Garden of delight.
Yusufali: (There is for him) Rest and Satisfaction, and a Garden of Delights.
وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿۹۰﴾
Qarib: If he is a Companion of the Right
Sarwar: If it is of the people of the right hand,
Shakir: And if he is one of those on the right hand,
Pickthall: And if he is of those on the right hand,
Yusufali: And if he be of the Companions of the Right Hand,
فَسَلَامٌ لَكَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ الْيَمِينِ ﴿۹۱﴾
Qarib: (he will be greeted with): 'Peace be upon you, Companion of the Right! '
Sarwar: it will be with the people of the right hand, living in peace and security.
Shakir: Then peace to you from those on the right hand
Pickthall: Then (the greeting) "Peace be unto thee" from those on the right hand.
Yusufali: (For him is the salutation), "Peace be unto thee", from the Companions of the Right Hand.
وَأَمَّا إِنْ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُكَذِّبِينَ الضَّالِّينَ ﴿۹۲﴾
Qarib: But, if he is of those who belied, and went astray,
Sarwar: If it is of those who have rejected the Truth and have gone astray,
Shakir: And if he is one of the rejecters, the erring ones,
Pickthall: But if he is of the rejecters, the erring,
Yusufali: And if he be of those who treat (Truth) as Falsehood, who go wrong,
فَنُزُلٌ مِنْ حَمِيمٍ ﴿۹۳﴾
Qarib: there shall be a hospitality of boiling water,
Sarwar: its dwelling will be boiling water
Shakir: He shall have an entertainment of boiling water,
Pickthall: Then the welcome will be boiling water
Yusufali: For him is Entertainment with Boiling Water.
وَتَصْلِيَةُ جَحِيمٍ ﴿۹۴﴾
Qarib: and a roasting in Hell.
Sarwar: and the heat of hell fire.
Shakir: And burning in hell
Pickthall: And roasting at hell-fire.
Yusufali: And burning in Hell-Fire.
إِنَّ هَذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ الْيَقِينِ ﴿۹۵﴾
Qarib: Indeed, this is the certain truth.
Sarwar: This is the absolute Truth and certainty.
Shakir: Most surely this is a certain truth
Pickthall: Lo! this is certain truth.
Yusufali: Verily, this is the Very Truth and Certainly.
فَسَبِّحْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ الْعَظِيمِ ﴿۹۶﴾
Qarib: So exalt the Name of your Lord, the Great.
Sarwar: So glorify the name of your Lord, the Great One.
Shakir: Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great
Pickthall: Therefor (O Muhammad) praise the name of thy Lord, the Tremendous.
Yusufali: So celebrate with praises the name of thy Lord, the Supreme.
