سَيَعْلَمُونَ غَدًا مَنِ الْكَذَّابُ الْأَشِرُ
﴿۲۶﴾
Qarib: (To him We said): 'Tomorrow they shall know who is the arrogant liar.
Sarwar: (We told Salih), "Tomorrow they will know who is the most arrogant liar. Shakir: Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one Pickthall: (Unto their warner it was said): To-morrow they will know who is the rash liar. Yusufali: Ah! they will know on the morrow, which is the liar, the insolent one!
إِنَّا مُرْسِلُو النَّاقَةِ فِتْنَةً لَهُمْ فَارْتَقِبْهُمْ وَاصْطَبِرْ
﴿۲۷﴾
Qarib: We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience.
Sarwar: We are sending the she-camel to them to test them. So watch them and be patient. Shakir: Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience Pickthall: Lo! We are sending the she-camel as a test for them; so watch them and have patience; Yusufali: For We will send the she-camel by way of trial for them. So watch them, (O Salih), and possess thyself in patience!
وَنَبِّئْهُمْ أَنَّ الْمَاءَ قِسْمَةٌ بَيْنَهُمْ كُلُّ شِرْبٍ مُحْتَضَرٌ
﴿۲۸﴾
Qarib: Tell them that the water is to be divided between them, a drink each for them in turn. '
Sarwar: Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". Shakir: And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated Pickthall: And inform them that the water is to be shared between (her and) them. Every drinking will be witnessed. Yusufali: And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns).
فَنَادَوْا صَاحِبَهُمْ فَتَعَاطَى فَعَقَرَ
﴿۲۹﴾
Qarib: But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her.
Sarwar: They called together their companions and agreed to slay the she-camel. Shakir: But they called their companion, so he took (the sword) and slew (her) Pickthall: But they call their comrade and he took and hamstrung (her). Yusufali: But they called to their companion, and he took a sword in hand, and hamstrung (her).
فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عَذَابِي وَنُذُرِ
﴿۳۰﴾
Qarib: How then were My punishment and My warnings!
Sarwar: How terrible was My punishment and warning. Shakir: How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! Pickthall: Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! Yusufali: Ah! how (terrible) was My Penalty and My Warning!
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ صَيْحَةً وَاحِدَةً فَكَانُوا كَهَشِيمِ الْمُحْتَظِرِ
﴿۳۱﴾
Qarib: Then We sent against them one Shout and they became like the trampled twigs of the (sheep) penbuilder.
Sarwar: We sent upon them a single blast of sound and they were left like hay to be used by the cattle. Shakir: Surely We sent upon them a single cry, so they were like the dry fragments of trees which the maker of an enclosure collects Pickthall: Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. Yusufali: For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle.
وَلَقَدْ يَسَّرْنَا الْقُرْآنَ لِلذِّكْرِ فَهَلْ مِنْ مُدَّكِرٍ
﴿۳۲﴾
Qarib: We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember!
Sarwar: We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? Shakir: And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? Pickthall: And in truth We have made the Qur'an easy to remember; but is there any that remembereth? Yusufali: And We have indeed made the Qur'an easy to understand and remember: then is there any that will receive admonition?
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ لُوطٍ بِالنُّذُرِ
﴿۳۳﴾
Qarib: The nation of Lot belied Our warnings.
Sarwar: The people of Lot rejected Our warning. Shakir: The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie Pickthall: The folk of Lot rejected warnings. Yusufali: The people of Lut rejected (his) warning.
إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حَاصِبًا إِلَّا آلَ لُوطٍ نَجَّيْنَاهُمْ بِسَحَرٍ
﴿۳۴﴾
Qarib: We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn
Sarwar: We sent down upon them a violent sandstorm (which destroyed them all) except for the family of Lot, whom We saved in the early morning by Our favor. Shakir: Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, Pickthall: Lo! We sent a storm of stones upon them (all) save the family of Lot, whom We rescued in the last watch of the night, Yusufali: We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,-
نِعْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِنَا كَذَلِكَ نَجْزِي مَنْ شَكَرَ
﴿۳۵﴾
Qarib: through Our Mercy. So it is that We recompense the thankful.
Sarwar: Thus do We recompense the grateful ones. Shakir: A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks Pickthall: As grace from Us. Thus We reward him who giveth thanks. Yusufali: As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. |
