Qarib: To Allah belongs whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth. He will recompense the evildoers according to their deeds, and recompense those who have done good with the finest reward
Sarwar: To God belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth. In the end God will re-compense the evil doers for their deeds and reward the righteous ones for their deeds.
Shakir: And Allah's is what is in the heavens and what is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil according to what they do, and (that) He may reward those who do good with goodness
Pickthall: And unto Allah belongeth whatsoever is in the heavens and whatsoever is in the earth, that He may reward those who do evil with that which they have done, and reward those who do good with goodness.
Yusufali: Yea, to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth: so that He rewards those who do evil, according to their deeds, and He rewards those who do good, with what is best.
Qarib: those who avoid the major sin and indecencies except the small sins, indeed your Lord is of immense forgiveness and He is more knowledgeable of you when He created you from the earth and when you were still unborn in your mothers' wombs. Do not praise yourself. Allah knows the cautious.
Sarwar: Those who stay away from grave sins and indecency (should know that) for their trivial sins your Lord's forgiveness is vast. He knows best about you. When He created you from the earth and when you were embryos in your mother's wombs. Do not consider yourselves very great. God knows best who is the most righteous person.
Shakir: Those who keep aloof from the great sins and the indecencies but the passing idea; surely your Lord is liberal in forgiving. He knows you best when He brings you forth from the earth and when you are embryos in the wombs of your mothers; therefore do not attribute purity to your souls; He knows him best who guards (against evil)
Pickthall: Those who avoid enormities of sin and abominations, save the unwilled offences - (for them) lo! thy Lord is of vast mercy. He is Best Aware of you (from the time) when He created you from the earth, and when ye were hidden in the bellies of your mothers. Therefor ascribe not purity unto yourselves. He is Best Aware of him who wardeth off (evil).
Yusufali: Those who avoid great sins and shameful deeds, only (falling into) small faults,- verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness. He knows you well when He brings you out of the earth, And when ye are hidden in your mothers' wombs. Therefore justify not yourselves: He knows best who it is that guards against evil.
Qarib: Have you considered he who turns his back,
Sarwar: (Muhammad), have you ever seen the one who has turned away (from guidance),
Shakir: Have you then seen him who turns his back?
Pickthall: Didst thou (O Muhammad) observe him who turned away,
Yusufali: Seest thou one who turns back,
Qarib: and gives a little, grudgingly?
Sarwar: and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God?
Shakir: And gives a little and (then) withholds
Pickthall: And gave a little, then was grudging?
Yusufali: Gives a little, then hardens (his heart)?
Qarib: Or, does he possess knowledge of the Unseen, and can therefore see?
Sarwar: Does he possess the knowledge of the unseen, thus, he sees (all things)?
Shakir: Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see?
Pickthall: Hath he knowledge of the Unseen so that he seeth?
Yusufali: What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see?
Qarib: Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses
Sarwar: Has not he been informed of the contents of the Book of Moses
Shakir: Or, has he not been informed of what is in the scriptures of Musa?
Pickthall: Or hath he not had news of what is in the books of Moses
Yusufali: Nay, is he not acquainted with what is in the Books of Moses-
Qarib: and Abraham, who paid his debt in full?
Sarwar: and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)?
Shakir: And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments):
Pickthall: And Abraham who paid his debt:
Yusufali: And of Abraham who fulfilled his engagements?-
Qarib: That no soul shall bear another's burden,
Sarwar: Certainly no one will bear the responsibility of the sins of another,
Shakir: That no bearer of burden shall bear the burden of another-
Pickthall: That no laden one shall bear another's load,
Yusufali: Namely, that no bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another;
Qarib: and that everyone shall have in his account only that which he worked for,
Sarwar: nor can man achieve anything without hard labor.
Shakir: And that man shall have nothing but what he strives for-
Pickthall: And that man hath only that for which he maketh effort,
Yusufali: That man can have nothing but what he strives for;
Qarib: and that his work is surely seen
Sarwar: He will certainly see the result of his labor
Shakir: And that his striving shall soon be seen-
Pickthall: And that his effort will be seen.
Yusufali: That (the fruit of) his striving will soon come in sight:
