Sarwar: and who wander in the abyss of confusion.
Shakir: Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful;
Pickthall: Who are careless in an abyss!
Yusufali: Those who (flounder) heedless in a flood of confusion:
يَسْأَلُونَ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الدِّينِ ﴿۱۲﴾
Qarib: 'When will the Day of Judgement be? ' they ask.
Sarwar: They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?"
Shakir: They ask: When is the day of judgment?
Pickthall: They ask: When is the Day of Judgment?
Yusufali: They ask, "When will be the Day of Judgment and Justice?"
Qarib: On that Day they shall be tried at the Fire,
Sarwar: On the Day of Judgment they will be punished by the fire
Shakir: (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire
Pickthall: (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire,
Yusufali: (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire!
Qarib: 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten! '
Sarwar: and will be told, "Suffer the torment which you wanted to experience immediately".
Shakir: Taste your persecution! this is what you would hasten on
Pickthall: (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten.
Yusufali: "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!"
Qarib: The righteous shall live among gardens and fountains,

Yusufali: As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs,
Qarib: receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers.
Sarwar: receiving their reward from their Lord. They had been righteous people before the Day of Judgment.
Shakir: Taking what their Lord gives them; surely they were before that, the doers of good
Pickthall: Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good;
Yusufali: Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life.

Sarwar: and asked for forgiveness in the early morning.
Shakir: And in the morning they asked forgiveness
Pickthall: And ere the dawning of each day would seek forgiveness,

Qarib: and in their wealth was a share for whosoever asked and for whosoever was prevented.
Sarwar: They assigned a share of their property for the needy and the destitute.
Shakir: And in their property was a portion due to him who begs and to him who is denied (good)
Pickthall: And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share.
Yusufali: And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking).

Qarib: For those with sure belief there are signs in the earth,
Sarwar: In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith.
Shakir: And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure,
Pickthall: And in the earth are portents for those whose faith is sure.
Yusufali: On the earth are signs for those of assured Faith,
