Qarib: as a provision for the worshipers; thereby We revived a land that was dead. Such shall be the emerging.
Sarwar: as sustenance for My servants. With this We have brought the dead land back to life. Thus, will also be your resurrection.
Shakir: A sustenance for the servants, and We give life thereby to a dead land; thus is the rising
Pickthall: Provision (made) for men; and therewith We quicken a dead land. Even so will be the resurrection of the dead.
Yusufali: As sustenance for (Allah's) Servants;- and We give (new) life therewith to land that is dead: Thus will be the Resurrection.
Qarib: Before them, the nation of Noah, the nation of ArRass belied and so did Thamood
Sarwar: The people of Noah, dwellers of the Ra's, Thamud,
Shakir: (Others) before them rejected (prophets): the people of Nuh and the dwellers of Ar-Rass and Samood,
Pickthall: The folk of Noah denied (the truth) before them, and (so did) the dwellers at Ar-Rass and (the tribe of) Thamud,
Yusufali: Before them was denied (the Hereafter) by the People of Noah, the Companions of the Rass, the Thamud,
Qarib: and Aad, Pharaoh and the brothers of Lot,
Sarwar: Ad, the Pharaoh, Lot,
Shakir: And Ad and Firon and Lut's brethren,
Pickthall: And (the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh, and the brethren of Lot,
Yusufali: The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,
Qarib: the dwellers of the Thicket and the nation of Tubba', all belied their Messengers, therefore My threat was realized.
Sarwar: dwellers of the forest, and the people of Tubba had all rejected the Prophets. Thus, they became subject to Our torment.
Shakir: And the dwellers of the grove and the people of Tuba; all rejected the messengers, so My threat came to pass
Pickthall: And the dwellers in the wood, and the folk of Tubb'a: every one denied their messengers, therefor My threat took effect.
Yusufali: The Companions of the Wood, and the People of Tubba'; each one (of them) rejected the messengers, and My warning was duly fulfilled (in them).
Qarib: What, were We wearied by the first creation? No, indeed; yet they are in doubt about a new creation.
Sarwar: Did We fail to accomplish the first creation? Of course, We did not; We have all power over all things. Yet they are confused about a new creation.
Shakir: Were We then fatigued with the first creation? Yet are they in doubt with regard to a new creation
Pickthall: Were We then worn out by the first creation? Yet they are in doubt about a new creation.
Yusufali: Were We then weary with the first Creation, that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?
Qarib: Indeed, We created the human. We know the whisperings of his soul, and are closer to him than the jugular vein.
Sarwar: We swear that We have created the human being and We know what his soul whispers to him. We are closer to him than even his jugular vein.
Shakir: And certainly We created man, and We know what his mind suggests to him, and We are nearer to him than his life-vein
Pickthall: We verily created man and We know what his soul whispereth to him, and We are nearer to him than his jugular vein.
Yusufali: It was We Who created man, and We know what dark suggestions his soul makes to him: for We are nearer to him than (his) jugular vein.
Qarib: When both receivers (the angels) receive, one on his right, the other on his left,
Sarwar: Since the two scribes are sitting on each of his shoulders, he does not utter a word which is not recorded immediately by the watchful scribes.
Shakir: When the two receivers receive, sitting on the right and on the left
Pickthall: When the two Receivers receive (him), seated on the right hand and on the left,
Yusufali: Behold, two (guardian angels) appointed to learn (his doings) learn (and noted them), one sitting on the right and one on the left.
Qarib: whatever phrase he utters, an observer is present.
Sarwar: The human being will certainly experience the agony of death
Shakir: He utters not a word but there is by him a watcher at hand
Pickthall: He uttereth no word but there is with him an observer ready.
Yusufali: Not a word does he utter but there is a sentinel by him, ready (to note it).
Qarib: And when the agony of death comes in truth (they will say): 'This is what you have been trying to avoid! '
Sarwar: and (the human being will be told), "This is what you had been trying to run away from".
Shakir: And the stupor of death will come in truth; that is what you were trying to escape
Pickthall: And the agony of death cometh in truth. (And it is said unto him): This is that which thou wast wont to shun.
Yusufali: And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!"
Qarib: And the Horn shall be blown; that is the Day of Threat!
Sarwar: The trumpet will certainly be sounded. This will be the day (about which you) were threatened.
Shakir: And the trumpet shall be blown; that is the day of the threatening
Pickthall: And the trumpet is blown. This is the threatened Day.
Yusufali: And the Trumpet shall be blown: that will be the Day whereof Warning (had been given).
