Qarib: except for he who shall roast in Hell.
Sarwar: except those who are doomed to enter hell.
Shakir: Save him who will go to hell
Pickthall: Save him who is to burn in hell.
Yusufali: Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire!
Qarib: (Gabriel said to the Prophet): 'Each of us has a known place.
Sarwar: The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place.
Shakir: And there is none of us but has an assigned place,
Pickthall: There is not one of us but hath his known position.
Yusufali: (Those ranged in ranks say): "Not one of us but has a place appointed;
Qarib: We are surely those who are arranged in ranks.
Sarwar: We stand in ranks (for prayer)
Shakir: And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks,
Pickthall: Lo! we, even we are they who set the ranks,
Yusufali: "And we are verily ranged in ranks (for service);
Qarib: And we are they who exalt (Allah). '
Sarwar: and we glorify God".
Shakir: And we are most surely they who declare the glory (of Allah)
Pickthall: Lo! we, even we are they who hymn His praise
Yusufali: "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!"
Qarib: What, would they then say:
Sarwar: Even though they (unbelievers) say,
Shakir: And surely they used to say:
Pickthall: And indeed they used to say:
Yusufali: And there were those who said,
Qarib: 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients,
Sarwar: "Had we received guidance from the people living before us,
Shakir: Had we a reminder from those of yore,
Pickthall: If we had but a reminder from the men of old
Yusufali: "If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,
Qarib: we would have been sincere worshipers of Allah. '
Sarwar: we would have certainly been sincere servants of God".
Shakir: We would certainly have been the servants of Allah-- the purified ones
Pickthall: We would be single-minded slaves of Allah.
Yusufali: "We should certainly have been Servants of Allah, sincere (and devoted)!"
Qarib: But they disbelieve in it (the Koran), but soon they shall know!
Sarwar: They have rejected the Quran. They will soon know the consequences (of their disbelief).
Shakir: But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know
Pickthall: Yet (now that it is come) they disbelieve therein; but they will come to know.
Yusufali: But (now that the Qur'an has come), they reject it: But soon will they know!
Qarib: Our Word had already preceded Our worshipers, the Messengers,
Sarwar: We decreed that Our Messenger servants
Shakir: And certainly Our word has already gone forth in respect of Our servants, the messengers:
Pickthall: And verily Our word went forth of old unto Our bondmen sent (to warn)
Yusufali: Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us),
Qarib: that they shall receive Our help
Sarwar: will certainly be victorious
Shakir: Most surely they shall be the assisted ones
Pickthall: That they verily would be helped,
Yusufali: That they would certainly be assisted,
