بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
وَيْلٌ لِكُلِّ هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ
﴿۱﴾
Qarib: Woe to every backbiter, slanderer
Sarwar: Woe to every slanderer and backbiter Shakir: Woe to every slanderer, defamer, Pickthall: Woe unto every slandering traducer, Yusufali: Woe to every (kind of) scandal-monger and-backbiter,
الَّذِي جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ
﴿۲﴾
Qarib: who amasses wealth and counts it,
Sarwar: who collects and hordes wealth, Shakir: Who amasses wealth and considers it a provision (against mishap); Pickthall: Who hath gathered wealth (of this world) and arranged it. Yusufali: Who pileth up wealth and layeth it by,
يَحْسَبُ أَنَّ مَالَهُ أَخْلَدَهُ
﴿۳﴾
Qarib: thinking his wealth will render him immortal!
Sarwar: thinking that his property will make him live forever. Shakir: He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal Pickthall: He thinketh that his wealth will render him immortal. Yusufali: Thinking that his wealth would make him last for ever!
كَلَّا لَيُنْبَذَنَّ فِي الْحُطَمَةِ
﴿۴﴾
Qarib: On the contrary! He shall be flung to the Crusher.
Sarwar: By no means! They will be thrown into hutamah. Shakir: Nay! he shall most certainly be hurled into the crushing disaster, Pickthall: Nay, but verily he will be flung to the Consuming One. Yusufali: By no means! He will be sure to be thrown into That which Breaks to Pieces,
وَمَا أَدْرَاكَ مَا الْحُطَمَةُ
﴿۵﴾
Qarib: What shall let you know what the Crusher is?
Sarwar: Would that you knew what hutamah is! Shakir: And what will make you realize what the crushing disaster is? Pickthall: Ah, what will convey unto thee what the Consuming One is! Yusufali: And what will explain to thee That which Breaks to Pieces?
نَارُ اللَّهِ الْمُوقَدَةُ
﴿۶﴾
Qarib: (It is) the kindled Fire of Allah,
Sarwar: It is a fierce fire created by God Shakir: It is the fire kindled by Allah, Pickthall: (It is) the fire of Allah, kindled, Yusufali: (It is) the Fire of (the Wrath of) Allah kindled (to a blaze),
الَّتِي تَطَّلِعُ عَلَى الْأَفْئِدَةِ
﴿۷﴾
Qarib: which shall oversee the hearts,
Sarwar: to penetrate into the hearts. Shakir: Which rises above the hearts Pickthall: Which leapeth up over the hearts (of men). Yusufali: The which doth mount (Right) to the Hearts:
إِنَّهَا عَلَيْهِمْ مُؤْصَدَةٌ
﴿۸﴾
Qarib: closed around them
Sarwar: It will engulf them. Shakir: Surely it shall be closed over upon them, Pickthall: Lo! it is closed in on them Yusufali: It shall be made into a vault over them,
فِي عَمَدٍ مُمَدَّدَةٍ
﴿۹﴾
Qarib: in extended columns.
Sarwar: in its long columns of flames. Shakir: In extended columns Pickthall: In outstretched columns. Yusufali: In columns outstretched. |
