قَالَ هَؤُلَاءِ بَنَاتِي إِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلِينَ
﴿۷۱﴾
He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." (71)
لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
﴿۷۲﴾
Verily, by thy life (O Prophet), in their wild intoxication, they wander in distraction, to and fro. (72)
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ
﴿۷۳﴾
But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, (73)
فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجِّيلٍ
﴿۷۴﴾
And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. (74)
إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَ
﴿۷۵﴾
Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. (75)
وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٍ مُقِيمٍ
﴿۷۶﴾
And the (cities were) right on the high-road. (76)
إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
﴿۷۷﴾
Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. (77)
وَإِنْ كَانَ أَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمِينَ
﴿۷۸﴾
And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; (78)
فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٍ مُبِينٍ
﴿۷۹﴾
So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. (79)
وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
﴿۸۰﴾
The Companions of the Rocky Tract also rejected the messengers: (80)
