لِمَنْ شَاءَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَتَقَدَّمَ أَوْ يَتَأَخَّرَ
﴿۳۷﴾
Unto him of you who will advance or hang back. (۳۷)
كُلُّ نَفْسٍ بِمَا كَسَبَتْ رَهِينَةٌ
﴿۳۸﴾
Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; (۳۸)
إِلَّا أَصْحَابَ الْيَمِينِ
﴿۳۹﴾
Save those who will stand on the right hand. (۳۹)
فِي جَنَّاتٍ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ
﴿۴۰﴾
In gardens they will ask one another (۴۰)
عَنِ الْمُجْرِمِينَ
﴿۴۱﴾
Concerning the guilty: (۴۱)
مَا سَلَكَكُمْ فِي سَقَرَ
﴿۴۲﴾
What hath brought you to this burning? (۴۲)
قَالُوا لَمْ نَكُ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ
﴿۴۳﴾
They will answer: We were not of those who prayed (۴۳)
وَلَمْ نَكُ نُطْعِمُ الْمِسْكِينَ
﴿۴۴﴾
Nor did we feed the wretched. (۴۴)
وَكُنَّا نَخُوضُ مَعَ الْخَائِضِينَ
﴿۴۵﴾
We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, (۴۵)
وَكُنَّا نُكَذِّبُ بِيَوْمِ الدِّينِ
﴿۴۶﴾
And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, (۴۶)
